Ramsés looked at me, embarrassed.
"Forgive me, Bree. I didn't want it to come to this. It's just that..." He sighed. "I've already lost my family, and I'm terrified of losing you. Of something bad happening to you. You're the only thing I have."
His response took me by surprise. With my crazy head, I thought it was all about him being possessive, but he was just scared. I got up from my seat and hugged him tightly.
"I love you so much, Ramsés."
"I love you too, Bree," he replied, burying his head in my neck.
"Forgive me for being so stubborn. Sometimes I don't understand what's going on with you, and I go a little crazy," I said, smiling, and he shook his head.
"There's nothing to forgive. These days haven't been going well, and that's made me unbearable."
