I finished speaking, feeling completely wronged. A sharp sense of resentment bubbled up inside me for being implicated in this mess for no reason, all because of some guy named Austin who is a complete stranger to me.
But I quickly shrugged that resentment off, not wanting it to harden my heart. I forced a small, self-encouraging smile before raising my head to look back at Mr. Handsome yet Crazy Kidnapper. I added cautiously, keeping my tone level because I knew my life was quite literally in his large, capable hands.
