I shook with anger and cursed him in a small voice, not daring to yell just after the scare he’d given me with that threatening act. He simply shrugged his shoulders in response, as if it were nothing, before looking at me with eyes that seemed a little concerned yet happy. He spoke nonchalantly in a somewhat caring voice.
Concerned? Caring? Did I see that right? Did I just hear that right? Have my ears gone deaf from using too many headphones, or have my eyes gone blind? Is there something wrong with my brain? Do I need to get my eyes and ears checked? Do I have to handle the expense of hearing aids and glasses now? Because him being concerned is just not possible! That care is fake! Everything is fake! Care, my foot! Concerned, my ass!
