korben: tomorrow is my 21st birthday. according to werewolf law I'll be taking over the halfmoon pack from my father. he keeps trying to come up with excuses not to hand me the reins though. man I hope that this transition doesn't get ugly. I stop in the bathroom to make sure that I'm presentable before heading to dad's office. my sandy blonde hair likes to stick up in weird places sometimes. I need to keep it shorter, but I always have too much work to do to get haircuts. my green eyes look brighter than normal today. probably from all the stress. sighing I turn to walk down the hallway. before I turn the handle to the office I catch a scent . someone I didn't know was in there talking to my parents. my mind was torn between barging in and asserting my leadership a little early or waiting patiently like I was taught for years. I could just make out a female voice. then I heard my name. "I will make a great wife and Luna for korben, alpha. I'm so glad that you thought of me for his bride." I couldn't stand it anymore. I flung open the door to see my parents sitting at the desk with the woman. my mother was holding her hand! she looked to be in her thirties. rail thin with chestnut hair in a bun. definitely not my type. "who the hell is this? and why does she think I'm going to marry her?"
