He hit the switch—two blurps of ear-splitting siren to let the jerk know that Hello! Big ass ambulance here. “Traffic blows today.”
“Your phone buzzed.” Alex Daniels, his shift partner for the last nine months, yawned at him from the passenger seat. He’d been asleep ever since their shift started, citing a demon-possessed toddler who fought their bedtime last night as the reason, but honestly, Alex spent most of their down time on shift sleeping. Maybe three kids under the age of seven did that to you, what did Joshua know?
