Contrary to his usual habits while they cruised around waiting for a call, when they had someone in the back Joshua drove with careful precision. The lights and siren flashed with urgency he didn’t need to mimic. Television shows might depict a breakneck race for treatment, but with a patient onboard and receiving care, slow and steady was the way to go, despite the way his hands shook on the steering wheel.
Time blurred as it always did during a run, and they arrived at the emergency entrance in what Joshua swore were mere seconds. He pulled into the offload area and went around to unlatch the back. He helped Alex maneuver their patient through the double doors where they were met by the admittance staff, already up to speed thanks to Alex’s constant flow of information.
