CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN The sky became a brilliant, pure white as if an entire group of clouds had appeared out of nowhere. The whiteness extended down to the ground below, making it impossible for me to see anything, even my own two hands in front of my face. A crushing force, like gravity suddenly increasing, slammed down on me, making it hard for me to sit up. I heard everyone else screaming in surprise, but I was too tired and weak to scream on my own. But then the whiteness faded as quickly as it came, allowing me to see the sky once again. A thick smoke cloud hung over Golden City.
