No! I struggled to regain control over my body, but again, ZA-012’s will was far stronger than my own. It didn’t even feel like it was holding me down. It mostly felt like it was ignoring my struggles, like a bored adult ignoring the tantrums of a little kid. That was dispiriting in itself, almost as dispiriting as the knowledge that Golden City was going to get nuked from the sky unless I did something.
“But there is nothing you can do, Beams,” said Xero as he pulled away from me. “That is the point. You are powerless to stop the Judgment. In about an hour, we will arrive in Golden City and fire the nuclear energy cannon. We will kill everyone you know and love.”
