Baby Lim’s Calling
From the age of eight Baby had planned to be a nun. She took communion every day, except while in exile, during the war. She said the rosary
at least once, daily.
Her ranking in high school was high. So high that when she announced her graduation intention to become a nun, to take the sacrament of marriage to our Lord in service to his poor, well, the
nuns at the school were a bit shocked that she did not wish more for her life. “But her family is poor since the death of Lim Po,” they whispered. “There is no money for higher
education. Her sisters lost American husbands during the war. The convent may be her best chance.”
