The Exiled Pack .1

Before I knew it, a few days passed since my 'arrival' at the Farm. I was putting effort into the farm chores given to me by Sam and that responsibility sadly came along with an alarm clock. Which was annoyingly going off right now. Groaning some, I was reaching over to hit any button on the alarm clock to turn it off and just sorta laid there, giving my brain some time to wake up more and start functioning right. A heavy weight on my back was felt as Arlo climbed on me and his soft kitty paws began making biscuits on my lower back, content purring sounding from him. A sleepy grin left me and as much as I enjoyed the feeling I couldn't risk getting tempted to stay and nod off. So I force myself to get going, murmuring an apology to the Big Guy for disturbing him and his biscuit making. All I got was his back to me. Chuckling I headed to the bathroom across the way to wash my face and brush my teeth. By the time I had left and gotten dressed, I was wide awake and functioning fully. I crept passed Sam's bedroom, spotting Hollow and Eve sleeping near her bed. Eve looked over at me, giving me a stare before laying back down. I headed downstairs, walking over dogs that lay in my path as I tread my way to the kitchen. Snagging some pastries and fruit, I woofed them down just so I had something to hold me till breakfast. Opening the backdoor from the kitchen, I heard the taps of claws along the hardwood floorboards and glance back to see Ray and Finn making their way toward me as I pulled on my work boots. Grinning I patted the big dogs down which they accepted with happy tail wags. The pack of dogs and I were getting along much better. They weren't as aloof with me now and would eagerly greet me whenever they saw me. Chief was still suspicious but I chalked it up to his old age while Wren, Duke and Daisy were just happy to have someone play with them. Puppies were just a bundle of energy. Meanwhile Ray and Finn had been my partners during my morning chores which were letting out the Alpacas and Horses followed by cleaning out the stalls. Finally getting a move on, I was greeted by a crisp morning and a dark sky. It was passed four in the morning and the sun doesn't rise till five thirty or so, around the time Samira gets up. Rubbing my hands together, I jogged my way to the horse's stables first, opening up the double doors and greeting each horse with pats and rubs down. Leia was the only one I didn't touch as she didn't seem to be much of a morning horse. The last time I tried to touch her, I was almost rewarded with a bite. So lesson learned then. As I approached Athos and Porthos, the two Draft horses towards the end of the stables, I notice they seemed restless and not in the sense they were waiting to get out. It was more like they were spooked by something. I frowned as I walked over, shushing them quietly and patting their thick neck as I've seen Samira done a few times. I stroke down Athos's dark mane as Porthos was still skittish. Nose to the air, I inhaled a few times, the Wolf coming out more as we both scented around. I couldn't smell anything first besides hay and manure before catching the underlining of something rotten; the smell of sulfur. Baring my teeth, I gave Athos another pat, leaving the horses in the stables for now as I exited out the side door and sniff around some more. It was faint and coming from the woods. There was hesitation on my part going in as the last time I've been in the woods wasn't pleasant. If there's something nearby, it could be a potential danger to Samira. My wolf pointed out. I agreed. Gathering my courage, I headed to the broken wooden fence that was meant to keep any trespassers from accessing the animals; something Samira guiltily admitted she had done a terrible job maintaining. I made a mental note to get around on fixing it for her. Crawling over the broken post, I followed the rotten scent deeper into the woods. Dried leaves and twigs snap under the weight of my steps as the sound of birds singing their songs, filled the air. I spotted a fox darting around trying to keep low to not be spotted. During the day, of course, the forest looked innocent and welcoming but at night it was totally different story. As the scent of rot grew stronger the closer I got, the more I hoped I wasn't growing near the border of Samira's land. I was safe within her land, I knew this much as the Hunters before didn't want to get on her bad side but the moment I stepped out, I was up for game. To engrossed with my thoughts, I hadn't realized how deathly quiet the woods had become besides my trampling around on leaves and twigs. I stopped and stayed very still. No longer could I hear the birds and I didn't see any animals scampering around. The only time birds would grow quiet as if something dangerous lurked nearby, predatory. And it wasn't me. The hair on the back of my neck stood up as chills ran down my spine. Something was here, watching me, but for the life of me, I couldn't see it. My nose was up in the air immediately as I crouched to the ground, desperately trying to find a scent but only the smell of rot assaulted my nose. Whatever was giving it off, was close by. I closed my eyes, inhaling slowly, letting the smell of the woods, the earth, and everything fill my nose so my brain can pick apart each scent. The smell of dirt, the smell of leaves and bark of the trees. The smell of rot. It wasn't till now I realized why it smelled a bit familiar. It was the scent of decaying flesh not of an animal, but a person. There was a dead body nearby. My eyes flashed open, feeling them shift to their brilliant gold yellow; my wolf eyes. The smell was triggering a panic attack and my wolf knew it, which is why he came out quickly to keep me steady and on my toes. The last time I smelled that, it was from my parents' dead and rotting bodies. I knew it all too well as I had been locked up with them for a couple of weeks. Snap out of it! My wolf snarls at me, growing more in control as I started to go down the rabbit hole of hell, struggling not to get sucked in and drown in the painful memories. Humans thought we were monsters. The bitter irony. The only real monsters that existed were them. Something crunched behind us and we swiveled around to see who it was only something hard hit us to the side of our head, causing our vision to swim and blur, and yet the Wolf manage to keep our balance, letting out a growl. We tried to look up at our assailant before we were hit again, harder this time. It was enough to take us down, face planting in dirt and leaves. The only thing we saw was a humanoid shadow before darkness overtook us as we lost consciousness. --- Slowly I started to come around in and out of consciousness with my head pounding and the side of my head hurting. "--et us all killed!" A voice snarls. "--an't bel-- attacked-- --im." "--mira is gonna-- --pissed.." "Forget th--- River is going too-- head on a stick." I let out a groan the more I came to, shaking my head but that only worsen the headache. "Oh, thank fück he's okay!" "Can't say the same for us though." Voices seem like they were spinning around at once and it made me nauseous. I bit my lower lip, trying to fight back from not puking as I blinked my eyes open, vision still blurred. Gentle and cool fingers touch beneath my chin, lifting my head. I blinked again, trying desperately to clear up my vision, only flinching as a bright light flashed in my eyes. "Well, he's not damaged so that's good." A feminine voice reached my eyes. Soon fingers left my chin before those same cool and gentle hands held the side of my head. Blue sea green eyes swam into vision as I stared at the female before me. I blinked a bit confused as a sense of calmness was washing over me. It was a nice feeling, a good feeling and I was contempt to just let this woman manhandle me. "You're lucky you didn't do extreme damage, Michael." The pretty lady said before looking down at me and giving me the most beautiful smile. Stop being so easily smitten. My wolf grumbles in my head, but it was half-hearted and I knew whatever was keeping me at ease, was having the same effect on him. "'s not like I hit him hard enough to kill him." A grumpy reply came from behind her. The pretty lady gives me a once look over and seemed satisfied with whatever she saw before letting me go and turning to glower at whoever answered her. I wanted to whine at the loss of contact and the feeling of sedative. Like effects wearing off, I shook my head a few times before realizing something weird had just happened. Omega. The Wolf growled in my head, realizing faster what happened to us. Wha? My jaw wanted to drop. Omegas were rare, practically a myth! Human Omegas were hard to turn because even werewolves had this urge to protect them rather than attack. I heard only unhinged werewolves, ones so far gone, could do it. I glance up to see the woman who examined me was dressed in a white coat. At first, I thought it was a lab coat but realized it was a doctor's coat. Next to her was a well built male from what look like years of working out, arms crossed over his chest, standing a foot or two taller than the Doctor. There was an air of discipline about him, almost military-like. Next to him, I spotted Elizabeth, who sported an expression of concern, and next to her seemed to be a younger male than the other looking displeased with the whole situation. Liz was the first to come toward me, holding my face in her hands. "Are you okay, Fenrir?" She asks softly, looking at me to make sure. The doctor snorted. "I said he was, Liz." But the other she-wolf ignored her as she kept inspecting me. "'m okay, Liz.." My voice croaked out. I frown a bit as I glanced around, seeing three trailers set up around, lights strung about. Chairs, tables, a fire pit. It almost looks like a camping place. I was so out of it that I didn't realize the whole place smelled like wolves. "Michael! You seriously could have hurt him!" Liz looked furiously at the taller, older male. He just shrugged and only seem to tick off Liz more. Heck, it made me mad like potentially damaging me was no big deal to him. I didn't know Liz very well at all, but she seemed like the sweet and docile type so color me surprised by the way she stormed over to the older male, poking his chest rather roughly. "Are you trying to be an āss?" She hisses. "There was no need to do what you did!" The older guy, Michael, just calmly looks down at her. Despite Liz holding the low rank of the pack, it seemed he had the patience to deal with her. The younger male cleared his throat. "Well, let's look on the positive side, Lizzy!" He says happily. "He's not hurt too badly so despite being the brute Michael is, he manages to keep his strength to a minimum!" At being called a brute, Michael growls at the younger male, who all but fluffed him off. "Listen, the kid was having a panic attack!" Growls out Michael, seemingly to defend his actions on how he handled me. "And believe me, I know a panic attack when I see one! His wolf was too close to the surface so I did what I had to do!" A snarl left him but calmed down as Liz leaned against him. The younger male just sighs and turns his attention to me. "Sorry about all of this, Fenrir. This was... Not the kind of greeting we wanted to give you." He sighs. I just sat there, unsure of what to say or think but in the end, just gave a small shrug. "It's... It's okay, I guess?" I wasn't sure if it really was. I still felt discombobulated. The younger male just gave a weak smile before looking at Michael. "Whether you did was right or not, River isn't going to be happy." He points out before his eyes narrowed. "Sam is going to be happy." At this, Michael flinched and just looked off to the side. It left me confused. River I could understand, she was the Alpha. Samira though... This was the second time I've seen someone give this kind of reaction and it made me curious just what kind of person Samira was. She did say she used to be a Hunter but what she told me didn't seem like she struck fear into the supernatural. "Liz, go see if you can find Fenrir something to eat." The younger male instructs. Nodding, Liz did as she was told, giving me a small smile before she headed into the largest trailer. Sighing, the younger male move to drag a camp chair over and plops in it. "So let me finally introduce ourselves. This is Adrian Wolfe," he gestures to the doctor, who smiles and nods. "And this is Michael Banner." He gestures to the big male, who only grunts out. "Of course to know Elizabeth, Michael's cousin." He leans back in his chair. "And I'm Sebastian Tobia but you can call me Seba." He grins cheekily. I just nodded. "I'm Fenrir?" It felt weird to introduce myself seeing as everyone here knew my name already. Sebastian nodded. "Yes, yes. We all heard about you from River when Sam told us she had a young wolf staying with her." He rubs his hands. "We been all too curious and wanted to see you but River told us not to. Didn't want to overwhelm you I guess." He shrugs. The way he called me young had me wondering just how old he was or any of them. "Aren't.. aren't we the same age?" I was a little lost. We both looked to be in our 20's. Sebastian gave a chortle. "Ah, we do look like it, but not." He shakes his head. "I'm over two hundred years old." He thinks about it. Two hundred and seventy I think." He shrugs. My eyes widen before looking at Michael and Adrian. Michael grunts out. "Ninety-seven." "A hundred and fifty." Smiles Adrian. I sat there completely stunned. Michael may look the oldest but turns out it was Sebastian. I really was a young wolf compared to them all. I was only twenty-four years old. Sebastian burst out laughing. "I take it you don't meet old werewolves often!" He snickers. "Well, Michael and Liz are the werewolves here at the moment. Ri and I are wolf shifters." I looked at him, eyes widening. "Shifters?!" Sebastian gave me a large grin. Wolf shifters. There was talk of them being the next stage of evolution. Unlike werewolves, who needed to be bit to be turned, wolf shifters were born with their wolf half. They could shift faster into wolves than a werewolf and didn't obey the laws of the moon like werewolves. Some of the older werewolves in my pack had regarded them as a threat to our survival. Stuck on old traditions I guess. Soon all three of them stiffen at the sound of a truck pulling up. I turn curiously to see what had them on edge. A red Toyota Tundra stopped near the trailer further from us, the loud diesel-like engine sound, cutting off. The driver's door opened and someone hopped out. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and my wolf grew restless at the power we felt. An Alpha. River. I watched as a woman no taller than 5'6 come around the corner of her truck. Her black hair pulled back in a braid as she wore a black tank top with the Pink Floyd Darkside of the Moon logo printed on it paired with jeans and sneakers. I took note of her bronze skin color and sharp-cut jawline like Adrian's. The ethics about her screamed Native American. A look of unhappiness on her face as she stood there, arms crossed beneath her bosom. "Alright, which one of you is about to cause me grief?"
