When I woke up, I found myself in an unfamiliar room. I saw Elijah sitting on the end of the bed. "Did you know that you're a heavy sleeper when you're exhausted?"
"I figured that out once or twice." I looked around the room before I looked at him. "Where are we?"
He walked over to me. "We are in my parents' house in Seattle."
"I'm guessing Angelo is here."
He nods. "Yes, he is. I hired him to be your bodyguard."
"I'm fine with that as long as he doesn't kill me."
I heard laughter by the door, and when I looked over I saw Angelo. "As long as you don't piss me off I won't have a reason to kill you."
Elijah looks at Angelo. "Even if she pisses you off, you will not lay a finger on her. Are we clear?"
Angelo sighs and backed out the door. "Yes."
Elijah says, "Good." He looked at me. "Melody please try not to piss him off."
"I can't guarantee that I won't, but I'll try."
He laughs, and I smiled at him. "Good." I watched as his smile disappeared, and he looked down at his hands. "I'm sorry for hitting you, it was a natural reflex."
"I'll take your apology into consideration."
I watched as his jaw dropped. "You will think about forgiving me."
"Yes, I will, do you have a problem with that?"
He looks at me. "No, I don't have a problem with that." I looked at him and before I can say anything someone opens the door. I looked over, and I saw a lady coming into the room. "Melody, this is my mother, Gemma Luciano. Mom, this is Melody Caitlyn Rose."
Gemma smiled at me. "It's nice to meet you, Ms. Rose."
"It's nice to meet you too, Mrs. Luciano."
She laughs as she hugs me. "You can call me Gemma and has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?"
"Just my dad, but I always thought it was his job to do that."
We started laughing. "It is always a father's job to tell you how beautiful you are. But it's a man's job to appreciate your beauty." She looked at Elijah as she put the tray in his hands. "Anyway, I'll let you eat."
Elijah says, "Thank you, Mom."
"Thank you for the food, Mrs. Luciano."
She smiles at us. "You’re welcome." Then she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
"Can I ask you a question?"
He looks at me. "Sure."
"If my father never asked you to protect me, would you still do it?"
He looked away from me, and I thought he wouldn't answer my question. "Yes, I would."
"Why?"
He sighs and sat down next to me. "Because I met you a few years ago at one of your father's parties and even though I accidentally spilled both of our drinks on you, you never acted out of anger."
"Wait, that was you?" He nods at me, and I hit his arm. "You ruined my dress that day."
He laughs and pushed my shoulder. "I know I even paid for it to get cleaned." When I looked at him I saw that he zoned out on me. "That day I couldn't keep my eyes off you."
"Why?"
He smiles at me. "You looked so beautiful and I loved seeing you smile."
"I looked for you throughout the night and when I couldn't find you I thought you left."
He looks at me, and I saw that he is curious. "Why were you looking for me?"
"I can't remember, but if or when I do, I'll tell you."
I watched as he got off the bed. "Go take a shower. I want to introduce you to my sister."
"You have a sister?"
He laughs and nods at me. "Yes, I do."
"I can't wait to meet her. But if she's anything like you, I feel sorry for her future husband."
"She's nothing like me, but I still feel sorry for her future husband." I got off the bed, and I almost lost my balance. He caught me before I fell, and he held onto my waist until I could stand again. "Are you okay now?"
"Yes, I'm fine." I walked over to my duffel bag, and I opened it. I felt his eyes on me the entire time I searched for clothes. I even felt his eyes on me as I walked to the bathroom. "Did your mother ever tell you it's not nice to stare?"
I turned to look at him as I closed the bathroom door. He smiled at me, and he looked handsome. "I can neither confirm nor deny that." I started laughing as I closed the door. After I finished showering I got dressed and walked out the bathroom. "Even though you took a shower, you still look horrible."
"Are you calling me ugly?"
He laughs, and I crossed my arms over my chest. "I can neither confirm." I took the pillow off the chair and threw it at his head. "That wasn't necessary."
I walked over to him, and I pat his arm. "Deal with it." I squeezed his muscles before I walked back to the bathroom. "Your muscles feel fake."
I watched as his jaw dropped. "Did you just say that my muscles are fake?"
"I can neither confirm nor deny." I closed the door fast as I saw the pillow coming towards me. When I opened the door, I saw Elijah standing there. "Can I help you?"
He smiles at me. "Are you ready to meet my sister?"
"I am."
He laughs, and I walked out the bathroom. "Good." He took my hand and dragged me to the living room. I saw a little girl sitting on the couch watching TV. "Grace."
She looked over at us, and her face lit up when she saw Elijah. She ran over and threw her arms around him when he bent down to pick her up. "Elijah, I missed you."
He laughs and hugged her. "I miss you too, Grace. I want you to meet someone." He turns to me and I looked at him. "Grace, this is Melody Caitlyn Rose. Melody, this is Grace Elizabeth Luciano."
She put her hand out. "It's nice to meet you, Ms. Rose. My brother hasn't stopped talking about you since you got here."
I shook her hand as I looked at Elijah, and I saw the smile on his face. "Really."
She reached over to me, so I took her, and she whispers, "He even told me he thinks your beautiful." I laughed with her as she looked at her brother. "He also told me he liked you from the very first time he saw you."
"Really."
She nods and says, "Yes."
We looked at Elijah, and he looked at us. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"No reason. It was nice meeting you, Grace." She smiled at me, and I put her down. I watched as she ran back over to the couch.
I looked at Elijah, and he smiled at me. "Why are you smiling at me like that?"
He continued smiling. "No reason."
"Okay." I walked away from him and I went back up to the guest room. When I walked inside Elijah pushed me against the door as he closed it. "What are you doing?"
He laughs and says, "Getting pay back. My muscles are not fake." He started tickling me, and I tried to push him away. When I finally got free, I tried to run away, but he pushed me on the bed and he held my arms down. I looked up at him as he stood between my legs and leaned over me.
Before I can say anything, he kissed me, and I gave into him. I kissed him back, and I started feeling more butterflies in my stomach. My lips tingled, and I wrapped my legs around his waist. I knew that we shouldn't do this, but I couldn't help it. I kissed him the same way he kissed me, and I heard him groan.
He pulled away, and I looked at him. "We need to stop." He pressed down against me, and I felt how hard he is. "Every time I kiss you that happens, and I've been taking cold showers ever since." I started blushing, and he kissed my cheek before he got off me. "You're so beautiful."
"Liar." He looked at me. "You called me ugly earlier and now you're telling me I'm beautiful." I sat up and I put my arms over my chest. I saw him staring at me, and when I looked down, I fixed my top. "Stop staring at my chest."
He laughs and pulls on his pants. "Stop showing me your chest."
"I didn't do it intentionally."
He pulled me up from the bed. "I know." Then wrapped his arms around my waist as he pulled me closer. "I need you to slap me every time I try to kiss you."
"Why?"
He looks into my eyes as he says, "Because we shouldn't be doing this."
"If I slap you will you slap me back?"
He sighs and crossed his arms over his chest. "I apologized for slapping you."
"Yes, but I need to make sure that you won't do it again."
He puts out his pinky finger, and he says, "I promise, I won't do it again."
I wrapped my pinky finger around his, and I looked at him. "Do you also promise not to kiss me again?"
He hesitates for a moment and I heard him sigh. "I can't promise you that."
"Fine, but I will slap you every time you try, or you kiss me. But I can't promise that I won't kick you in your balls." I saw him grab his balls, and he had a horrified look on his face.
