Chapter 10

I watched as Elijah looked at all of us. "Angelo, I want you to make the shot on my command. You know the inside and the outside of the house." Angelo pulled out some papers from inside his jacket and he laid it out on the table in front of us.

Then he looked at us. "Fernando's men are always in the living room, kitchen and dining room. But tomorrow night, he will have them spread out throughout the entire house. Liam, your men should spread out throughout the house. But they should blend in with the darkness in the background. Once Fernando sees your men then it's game over for us."

Before anyone can say anything, Elijah's phone rang. We looked at him as he answered it. When he looked at me I knew that things were about to change once he got off the phone. His face changed from serious to angry in the matter of two seconds. As he hung up the phone Liam says, "What's wrong?"

Elijah ignored the question as he got up and left the house. I looked at everyone at the table. Before anyone can say anything, Elijah walked back into the house. He had his hand wrapped around some guy's arm as he dragged him into the living room. He looked at me before he let go of the guy. "Robert are you working for Fernando?"

I watched as everyone in the room pulled out their gun and Faith came over to me. Robert looked at me, so Angelo moved to block his view. Robert laughs and says, "I knew that you would find out, but I thought it would have been a while. You are smarter than you look. But since I know that you will kill me, I should tell you that Fernando has men all over the place, so you shouldn't trust anyone."

Before he can say anything else I saw Elijah shoot him in his head. I watched as his body dropped to the floor. I covered my mouth as I moved away from them and Faith says, "Elijah." I watched as everyone turned to us and I ran out the room. I ran all the way to Elijah's room, to the bathroom, and I started throwing up.

I didn't realize that someone followed me until I felt my hair being pulled into a bun on top of my head. After I finished I sat down with my back against the tub. I kept my eyes closed the entire time as I tried to get my head to stop spinning. I heard Elijah say, "Melody, I'm sorry that you had to see that.” I said nothing, but I knew that he was still here. "When Fernando is dead, I will take you to my safe house and we will get away from everyone for a few days."

"Why are you doing this?"

I heard him sigh. "Doing what?" I said nothing, and I heard him move. I felt when his arm brush against mine as he sat down next to me. "Melody I'm protecting you."

"Because my father asked you to, I know you told me that already."

He laughs as he says, "If you let me finish my sentence you would have heard the rest of that. Yes, I started protecting you because your father asked me. But that's not why I'm still protecting you." I looked at him, and he smiled at me.

"So, why are you still protecting me?"

He took my hands in his. "I'm protecting you because I care about you." He smiled at me and I looked at his face.

"You should smile more often."

He squeezed my hand. "Why?"

“Because you look cute when you're smiling.” He started laughing, and I looked away from him when I realized what I told him. “Did I say that out loud?” He nods, and I started blushing. Then I got up and walked over to the sink. “I need to brush my teeth now.”

He got up and walked over to me. I looked at him in the mirror as he stood behind me. I felt his chest against my back. He had a serious expression on his face. "Things are about to change, and I really hope that you will handle it." Before I can say anything, he walks out the bathroom. I brushed my teeth four times before I rinsed with mouthwash.

When I got back downstairs I heard Liam say, "What are we going to do?"

Elijah looked at me. “We will entertain the girls.” He pats the seat next to him and I went to sit down. “Melody, do you have a date for tomorrow?”

"No."

He smiles at me. "Good, then you can be my date."

Faith laughs as she says, "We need to get a dress for tomorrow."

"Can you just pick out a dress for me?"

She sighs and says, "Melody, you need to try on the dress."

"Don't you remember what happened the last time we went to the mall?"

"I remember but you can't let that stop you from going," she says.

"That's not what's stopping me from going."

I watched as her jaw dropped. "Melody just because you look good in everything you wear doesn't mean that it's the same for the rest of us."

"You and I both know that I don't care how I look."

She laughs and says, "True, but maybe if you had a man in your life you would care." As I opened my mouth to correct her, she cut me off. "Nope, you still wouldn't even care."

"You know me so well."

She got up from her seat. "Yes, I do, now come on." Before I could protest, she pulls me up from my seat and starts dragging me to the door. I looked back, and I saw the guys following us. When we got outside we waited for Elijah to get the car. It took us half an hour to get to the mall and Faith dragged me all over with her.

When she finally found the store that she was looking for. I saw Liam, Elijah and Angelo walk over to the chairs to sit down. "Lucky bastards."

Faith looked at me. "Did you say something?"

"Nope." She looked at me for a moment before she went back to looking through the dresses. I sighed before I started helping her. We went through three racks of dresses before she finally found the one she likes. I was about to give up when my eyes hit a violet dress. I pulled it out of the rack and showed it to Faith.

She smiled at me before she pulled me over to the dressing room with her. We went into separate ones, and I tried on the dress. When I turned to the mirror, I saw that it fit perfectly, and it showed off all my curves. I stepped out of the dressing room the same time she did, and we looked at the guys. She smiles and says, "What do you think?"

They looked up at us, and I saw their jaws drop. Liam got up and looks at us. "You both look beautiful, but I think we need to see the rest of the dress to decide if we like it or not."

Elijah got up and smiled at us. "Why don't you turn around, so we can see the back as well?"

Angelo laughs as he looked up from his phone. "Why don't you two just tell them you want to see their ass?"

I started blushing when he said that, and I looked away from Elijah. “I will change now.”

Elijah laughs as he says, "Are you going to get this one?"

"Yes." I turned around to walk back to the dressing room, and I felt his eyes on my ass. "Stop looking at my ass." I looked back at him and I saw his eyes meet mine before they went back to my ass. I shook my head as I continued into the dressing room. After I finished putting on my clothes, I grabbed the dress and walked out of the dressing room.

Elijah walked over to me. "May I pay for that for you?"

"Why?"

He looks at me. "I want to."

"Fine." I gave him the dress as we walked over to the cashier.

Before he can pay for it Faith says, "Here." I looked at the box she gave to me. When she opened it, I saw a pair of heels in it. "These will go perfectly with the dress and it's in your size."

"You know that I will break my ankle in those."

Elijah looks at me. "I won't let that happen." He took the box from me, and he gave it to the lady. Then he gave her his card, and he took the bag. When he got his card back we walked over to the door and Liam paid for Faith's things. "I can't wait to see you in that dress again tomorrow."

I looked up at him and before I can say anything Angelo says, "You probably also want to see her out of that dress."

"No one will see me out of anything."

Faith laughs as she stopped by us. "You're only saying that because you're still a virgin."

"Can we go now?" I started walking out the store before anyone can answer the question. When we got to the car Elijah opened the door for me, and I got in. I put my head against the window as he started driving and I watched as the sun set.
