Chapter 17

It's been a week since my parent's funeral and it's been a decent week. Lorenzo has tried nothing, and I feel like he's waiting for the perfect time to hit us. I just hope that moment isn't today. I'm sitting in a dressing room with Faith as we get our hair and makeup done. She looked at me, and I smiled at her. "I can't believe I'm getting married today."

"You haven't stopped talking about it since yesterday." I started laughing, and she smiled at me. "I'm happy for you."

She looks at me through her mirror. "Is everything okay between you and Elijah?"

"That depends on what everything is."

 She sighs and says, "You may put on a brave face and act like everything is okay. But I can see the way you look at him."

"The morning before we left to go to Fernando's house we slept together, and he apologized for letting it get that far."

She sighs, and I looked away from her. "He made you feel like he was using you."

"Yes, and every time he tries to bring it up, I would walk away." Before she can say anything, the hair and makeup artist told us they're finished. They left the room, and I watched as Faith walked over to her dress. "I'll help you before I put on my dress." She nods at me before she took off her robe.

I saw her in a corset with a matching underwear and straps on her stockings. She looked at me and asks, "Do you think Liam will like it?"

"I think he'll love it." She laughs as she pulled on her dress, and I helped her zip up the back. I fixed her hair into place, and she turned towards me. "You look amazing."

She smiles, and I hugged her. "Thank you." She gave me her tiara, and I put it in her hair. She pulled the veil over her face, and I grabbed my dress. I put my robe on the couch and I felt Faith hit my ass. "Damn Mel, Elijah won't be able to keep his hands off you if he sees you in that."

I looked down at my violet corset and matching thong. "I didn't put it on for him. It was the only one that goes with the dress." She laughs, and I pulled on my dress. A few minutes later, Liam's mother Aurora walks into the room.

She looked at us and she says, "You both look beautiful."

Faith says, "Thank you. Is it time?"

She nods as she looked at us. "Yes, it is." We followed her out of the room and over to the door that leads to the church. "I'm so happy for you and my son." She left us, and I looked back at Faith.

She smiles and says, "See you at the altar."

"Don't keep Liam waiting."

She laughs as the door opens. "You don't mind if I use your brother to walk me down the aisle, right?"

I saw Kevin walk over and he smiled at me before he took her hand. "He's all yours." The music started playing, and the lady told me to walk out. I started walking, and I saw all three mafia groups and family members in the crowd. I looked over at the alter and I looked at Elijah.

I saw that he has on a black suit with a violet dress shirt. He looked sexy as hell, and he kept looking down at my dress. I smiled at him and Liam when I got to the alter and I took my place on the left. We looked at the door as it opened again, and the musicians started playing the wedding march song. Everyone got up from their seats, and Faith walked out with Kevin.

When they reached the alter Kevin hugged her before he gave her hand to Liam and he took his seat by Marissa and the twins. I took her bouquet, and she took Liam's hands. As the pastor started talking, I saw Elijah looking at me, and I smiled at him. I saw William walk over when the pastor asked for the rings and he gave it to them. He smiled at me before he went back to his seat.

I watched as Liam put his ring on Faith's finger and he says, "With this ring I thee wed."

Faith puts the ring on Liam's finger and she says, "With this ring I thee wed."

We looked at the pastor as he says, "With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Liam Santiago. You may now kiss the bride." I watched as Liam pulled Faith into his arm and he bent her over before he kissed her. Everyone started clapping, and they turned to wave at everyone. I gave her back her bouquet, and I took Elijah's hand as we followed them to the reception hall.

Elijah moved closer to me, and I looked at him. "You look breathtaking, Melody."

"Thank you. You don't look so bad yourself." We followed Liam and Faith to the dressing room, to wait until it was time for us to go. "How are you feeling?"

Faith laughs, and I looked at her. "This is the best day of my life."

Liam laughs and says, "It better be." I shook my head at them and the wedding planner told us it's time to go. We followed her to the hall, and she told us to wait for the DJ to call us in. She walked into the room and I put my hand through Elijah's. "See you inside."

I smiled at them as the door opened, and the DJ called our name. We walked in and over to our seat. Then we looked at the door as the DJ said, "For the first time as husband and wife, would you all please stand and help me welcome, Liam and Faith Santiago." Everyone got up and started clapping as Liam and Faith walked in when the doors opened. They walked over to our table, and they took their seats.

Everyone sat down, and the DJ called them up for their first dance. I looked over at them and I saw how happy they are together. Elijah touched my arm, and I looked at him. "Are you still made at me?"

"No, and I forgive you for slapping me."

He sighs and says, "I only apologized for sleeping with you because I wanted to take you out on a date first."

"Isn't this our second date?"

He smiles and says, "It is." I heard the DJ call Liam's mother to the dance floor, and I looked at them. She started dancing with Faith, and Liam walked over to us.

He sat down, and I looked at him. "I can't believe she's finally my wife."

"Make sure you keep her happy."

He looked at me. "Always." When the DJ told us that the dance floor is open. Liam got up and put his hand out to me. "May I have this dance?"

"Sure." I looked at Elijah and he nods at me. Then I took Liam's hand, and we walked to the dance floor.

I put my hand in his and the other on his shoulder. "Thank you."

I looked at him. "For."

He laughs and says, "We wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for you."

"You’re welcome. Faith’s been my best friend all my life, and I knew how much getting married to you meant to her. I couldn't let my feelings stop her from getting what she wants."

He smiles and says, "She's lucky to have a friend like you."

"Thank you."

Before he can say anything else, Faith walks over to us. "May I cut in?"

Liam laughs and says, "Sure." He walks away, and Faith wrapped her arms around my waist while I wrapped mine around her neck.

She smiles, and I looked at her. "I heard what you told Liam. I know that things haven't been easy for you. But I just want to tell you how much this meant to me."

"I already know." She hugged me, and I closed my eyes.

I heard someone clear their throats, and I looked at Liam. "May we cut in?"

Faith pulls away from me, and she looked at the guys. "Sure." She walked to the side with Liam, and I looked at Elijah. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he wrapped his around my waist.

We swayed to the music, and I put my head against his chest. "I love you, Melody."

"I love you too, Elijah." After the song ended we went to sit down, and the waitresses brought out the food. They put plates in front of everyone, and we started eating. I took a sip of the Champagne and I went back to eating. When we finished eating, they cleared the tables, and we got up to take pictures with everyone.

Liam and Faith stood on the right, while Elijah and I stood on the left. Elijah and Liam were behind us with their hands wrapped around our waist. Then Liam's mother and Elijah's parents joined us. When they left William, Kevin, Vincenzo and Angelo joined us. After Vincenzo and Angelo left, Marissa joined us.

Then we left, and they took pictures with everyone else. Vincenzo came over to us. "Melody, may I have this dance?"

"Sure."

He took my hand, and we walked to the dance floor. I put my hand in his and the other on his shoulder. He looked at me and he says, "You look beautiful."

"Thank you."

He smiles, and I smiled at him. "Your welcome. I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Okay."

He looks at me, and I saw this strange look in his eyes. "I don't know if you know this or not, but when you came into Elijah's life, you became his backbone."

"What does that mean?"

He laughs and says, "It means that you will stand beside him from now on. You won't be under him like his men."

"So, when he told me that a king always bows down to his queen."

He cut me off. "You will help him decide from now on. He won't just go into anything without thinking, what would Melody want me to do?"

"So, I have to handle my own problems and his too." He nods at me, and I sighed. "That changes a lot of things now."

He puts his hand under my chin, and I looked at him. "It doesn't change the way you feel about him."

"No, but it makes me look at things differently now." He led me off the dance floor and I went back to my seat.

Elijah looked at me as I sat down. "Everything okay?"

"I just learned some extra things about your world." Before he can say anything, the waitresses started bringing out the cake. We watched as Liam and Faith cut it, before they fed each other. Then the waitresses started cutting and giving it out to the guests.

I felt his eyes on me, so I looked at him. "What extra things?"

"Something about me being your backbone and not only dealing with my problems, but yours too."

He started laughing before I can finish what I was saying, and I looked at him. "I'll explain everything better to you soon." I nod at him, and we ate our cake. When it was time to go, we lined up outside and waited for Liam and Faith to leave first. Then we got in the car and went to his house.
