Chapter 12

Four hours later, Faith and I finish getting dressed. We started walking down the stairs and into the living room. Liam stopped talking when we walked in. Elijah turned around, and I watched as his jaw dropped. They walked over to us and Liam says, "You two look amazing."

Faith says, "Thank you, babe."

"Thank you, Liam."

Elijah pulled me into his arms, and he kissed me. "You look breathtaking."

"Thank you."

When we looked at Liam and Faith, they had smiles on their faces. Faith looks at me and says, "How was it?"

"How was what?"

She laughs and says, "How was the s*x?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

I saw Liam and Elijah laughing in the corner and he winked at me. He walked over to us. "Time to go."

Faith sighs and says, "Fine, but this conversation isn't over."

It took us an hour to get to Fernando's house, and it shocked me to see how big it is. The outside was lit up like a Christmas tree, but it held a unique look. When we walked inside, I saw waiters walking around with trays of Champaign. Elijah took two from one waiter and he gave me a glass. He looked at me. "I can't wait for this to end."

"Me too." I took a sip of my Champaign as I looked around. I saw some guy looking at me, and I looked away from him.

Elijah whispered, "That's Fernando." When I looked over again, I saw him walking over to us.

I moved over to Elijah as he stopped in front of us. He looked at me. "Ms. Rose." He took my hand and kissed it before he looked at Elijah. "Why don't you two follow me I have some things I would like to discuss with you." I looked at Elijah, and he nods at me.

He took my hand, and we followed Fernando to his office. When the doors closed behind us he says, "I want to make a deal with you."

Elijah looks at me before he looked at him. "What deal is that?"

Fernando looks at me. "Give me Ms. Rose and I will leave you alone."

Elijah laughs and says, "You will never get her." He looked at me as he turned to walk to the door.

Once we reached the door Fernando says, "That's too bad." Elijah opened the door, but Fernando stopped us once again. "Oh, Ms. Rose how did it feel watching your father die?" I looked at Elijah, and we walked out of the office.

As we stopped walking Elijah says, "I want that man dead tonight." He gave me an earpiece, and I put it into my head. "Just in case I lose you, you will hear me."

"I thought no one would know when everything happens."

I heard Liam say, "They won't until someone finds the bodies. But before then our men will leave from here."

Angelo cuts in and says, "You four will be a part of the party so they won't suspect you being involved." A few minutes later a lady went on stage and told us that the dance floor is open.

I looked at Elijah as he put his hand in front of me. "Can I have this dance?"

"I don't dance."

He laughs and says, "Neither do I, but who cares." I laughed as I put my hand in his.

"Fine." We walked onto the dance floor and he pulled me into his arms. He wrapped his arms around my waist as I wrapped mine around his neck.

We swayed to the music, and I heard Faith say, "Look, Melody's dancing."

"Shut up, Faith." She laughs, and I looked into Elijah's eyes.

He smiles at me. "Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight?"

"Yes, you did. You don't look so bad yourself."

He laughs before he says, "I'm sorry about this morning."

"What about it?"

I heard him sigh, and he looks away from me. "I shouldn't have let things get that far." My heart broke when those words left his mouth. I felt it shatter into a million pieces.

"Don't worry about it. I already forgot that it even happened." When the song ended, we walked off the dance floor, and I grabbed a glass of Champaign.

I looked over at Faith as she says, "Since when do you drink Champaign?"

"Since my mother started giving it to me when I joined her in her parties. You can't really taste the alcohol even though it has a little in it." When the lady told us to take our seats in front of the stage, I followed Elijah.

Faith sat down next to me and she whispers, "Are you okay?"

"No." I looked at her and she nods at me. We watched as Fernando walked onto the stage with his wife and kids. "Are you going to have him killed in front of his family?"

Elijah sighs and says, "Yes, I am, if that's what it takes to kill him." We listened to Fernando's speech, and he looked at me as he called on Elijah. I watched as he stood up and looked around before he sat back down. He tried to take my hand, but I kept it on my lap. "Are you okay?"

"Just nervous." I let him take my hand this time, and he squeezed it as he leaned over to me.

He whispers, "I won't let anyone hurt you."

"Except for you." I whispered under my breath, but I didn't know if anyone heard me. After the speech ended we went to find our table, and I saw Fernando walk away from his family. "If you want him dead, do it now."

Elijah looked over at Fernando. "Angelo, when you can, take the shot and get out of here." I sat down when Elijah pulled out my chair for me.

Faith leans over to me and she whispers, "When we get out of here you and I need to talk." I nod at her as I looked down at the food in front of me.

We heard Liam's men say, "Mission accomplished."

Liam says, "Good work, now go back to Elijah's house."

Elijah looks at me as he says, "Angelo, did you take the shot?" We waited for Angelo to reply and I was getting worried.

Angelo finally says, "I have taken the shot and I am leaving now. See you back at your house." It didn't even take long for someone to find the body. We heard screaming and everyone got up to see what happened. "I am out of the building and on my way to your house."

Elijah sighs and says, "Good because someone found a body." We walked over to the crowd as well and we saw all the dead bodies. The next thing I knew everyone started screaming and pushing each other to get out of the house. I saw Fernando's wife crying over her husband's body and her son was on the phone.

"Let's get out of here."

While we were trying to leave, I bumped into Elijah a few times until I lost him in the crowd. I heard him say, "Melody, where are you?"

"Almost by the door." I pushed through some people and I finally found Elijah again. He grabbed my hand, and I had to run to keep up with him. When we finally got outside we got into his car and he drove off. "Liam are you and Faith out of the house?"

Liam says, "We are driving right behind you."

Elijah sighs as he says, "Good. Angelo are you and Liam's men back at my house."

Angelo says, "Yes we are."

Elijah looks at me. "Good." When the car stopped, I got out and walked to the house. I took off my shoes and put it by the bottom of the step before I went up to Elijah's room. I took out the earpiece from my ear and I put it on his dresser.

I grabbed a baby blue tank top and shorts from my duffel bag. When I turned around, I saw Elijah watching me. He took off his clothes as he looked at me. I walked into the bathroom, and I locked the door. After I finished getting dressed, I opened it and I put the dress on the chair.

Elijah looked at me. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

He sighs, and says, "Look, I want to talk about what I told you today."

"I don't care."

He grabbed my arm as I walked past him. "Melody, look at me." I looked at him, and he pulled me into his arms. "I know that you're mad because I apologized for letting things get too far this morning.”

"You made me feel as if you just used me."

I looked away from him. "I didn't mean to make you feel like that."

"Yeah well it's too late." I pulled away, and I walked over to the bed. "If you don't mind, I'm exhausted, and it was a hard day." I laid down and pulled the blanket over my body. I looked at the ceiling as he got on the bed and turned off the light.

I felt his hand touch mine, and he sighed when I pulled it away. "Melody, I'm sorry."

"Nothing you say or do will make me feel any better than I do right now." I turned away from him, and I closed my eyes.

I started falling asleep, and I heard him say, "I will try to.”
