Chapter 36

1438 Words

Chapter 29 Merrick’s stronghold looked like an ice castle fortress that looked like a gigantic ice-sculpture gone wild, and as Donovan approached the tall structure, he hoped Roxy stuck to the plan. If she went rogue, he could almost guarantee he’d turn into a killing machine with even the slightest promise of peril involving her. He’d threatened to lock her in the handcuffs, but she swore she’d just get the damn hellhound to chew her hands off. Even if he didn’t think she’d do it, he didn’t want to leave her helpless. So, he’d convinced her to stay in a makeshift shelter inside a stand of fir trees with the dog next to her for warmth. Being a hound from hell, he ran hot anyway, so she would be nice and toasty while he stormed the castle, got the protective talisman, and killed Merrick.
