Chapter Twenty-Two Teddy sat on the hard wooden plank in the holding cell and fumed. Her hands were clenched in her lap, and she stared at the floor. Lisa sat beside her, periodically dabbing at the tears that ran down her face. “Look, Lisa. I know you feel bad about telling Ric where he could find me, but crying doesn't help. And praying obviously doesn't either, so why don't you go home and get some rest.” Lisa met Teddy's stare with bloodshot eyes. Her face was pale and blotchy, her nose red and running. “He said he was going to help you.” With an awkward gesture, Teddy patted Lisa's shoulder. She wasn't good at this encouragement thing. That was Lisa's department. Who, by the way, looked awful. Some pretty women managed to look even more beautiful when they cried. Lisa was not one
