An Admission of Guilt Frankie sat on the edge of the bed and wondered what to do. He knew how he felt—like a scum—and he knew what he should do, but that was different than what he wanted to do. What he wanted to do was to call Kate, lie about what he’d done on his vacation, and tell her he’d be home tomorrow. He thought about the possible scenarios and opted for the truth—that’s what Nicky would do. Besides, anything different would be a bad example for Alex. He finally mustered up the courage and dialed her number. He needed to do it before Alex came into the room.
