Chapter 11 Lee's pov The next couple of days were like a blur. People came from all over to pay their respects for Rose's dad. She seemed to be just going through the motions. She's barely sleeping, and she's not eating. All she does is go into her dads room and cry. I haven't left her side at all. I got everything set up and gave everyone the things her father wanted them to have because she just couldn't do it. I was running the day to day operations of the ranch, and everyone else stepped up to do the rest. We didn't know how long it would take for Rose to get back to work, but until she was ready, we had everything under control. I knew she wasn't herself because every night she begged me to stay with her. She just didn't like being alone. It was as if she were left alone, she would have to face the truth that her dad was never coming back. As much as I loved holding her in my arms it killed me to see her like this. She had always been so full of life just like her father. It was as if we lost her right along with her daddy. I didn't know how to help her. No one did. All we could do was be there for her when she needed a shoulder to cry on. We all just prayed she would be ok. I was worried I was going to lose her. With her not eating she was wasting away. She was practically skin and bones now. I know her daddy wouldn't have wanted this for her, but I didn't know how to get that through to her. I walked into her room where she was lying down and set some soup in her night stand. "Rose I brought you some soup." "I'm not hungry." "You need to eat it’s been days now." "I don't care." "Rose damnit your dad would not want this." I shouldn't have said that because she looked at me and I could tell she was angry. I knew I overstepped, but I was just scared. It was like she just wanted to die, and I couldn’t let that happen. I made a promise to her dad and I was going to keep it. "Who the hell are you to say what he would want?" "You were his everything. Do you honestly think he would want to see his baby girl like this? Hell, he made me promise to take care of you please don’t make me break that.” She looked at me than burst into tears once again. She was so broken, and it killed me. I loved this woman so much and I want to make it better for her. If I could take her pain away I would but that’s just not possible. But I refuse to sit here and watch her fade away. "I'm so sorry Lee I'm just so sad." I picked her up and sat her in my lap, so I could hold her better. "I know you are. We are just worried about you. Please just eat something. I can't lose you too." She got up from my lap and went over to the soup and started to slowly eat it. I knew she was only doing this for me and that made me feel so special. I loved her so much, but now wasn't the right time to tell her that. She was still going through so much that I didn't want to scare her off. I knew there would be plenty of time to tell her later because I wasn't going anywhere. She was the one for me. I was going to marry her one day. But for now, I would be anything and everything she would allow me to be.
