Emma’s POV I was surprised to see him standing at the door before me; he was the last person I had expected. Our gazes interlocked, and sudden fear enveloped me. Nervously, I licked my lips and tucked my hair behind my ears. “Can you let me in?” he asked, and I nodded, stepping aside for him to walk in. After walking in, I closed the door and stood at the door while he walked into the room and then turned to me. Our gazes met again, and nervously, I looked away and then back at him. I was curious and anxious about his presence in my room. “I apologize for the way I shouted at you earlier; I didn’t mean to,” he apologized, and I became shocked. An apology was the last thing I expected from him. “I was just being…” He paused and sighed. “Protective.” I didn’t expect to hear such a word
