Emma’s POV I couldn’t explain why I said what I said, but right after uttering those words, I regretted saying them. Holding Lord Emerson's gaze, I could see a glint of pain in his eyes, but it quickly vanished, replaced by anger. He grunted, let go of my hand, and left the bed. Without saying a word or looking my way, he left my room and banged the door, making me jolt in fear. With a nervous gulp, I sat on the bed and stared at the door, wishing he would come back so I could tell him I didn’t mean what I just said.
