Aft: Towards the rear (stern) of the ship. 2. Bow: The front part of the ship. 3. Port: The left side of the ship when facing forward. 4. Starboard: The right side of the ship when facing forward. 5. Helm: The wheel or tiller used to steer the ship. 6. Bridge: The area from which the ship is controlled. 7. Deck: The floor surface of a ship. 8. Hull: The main body of the ship. 9. Keel: The central structural base of the ship running lengthwise along the bottom. 10. Mast: A vertical pole on a ship which supports sails or rigging. 11. Rigging: The system of ropes, cables, or chains used to support a ship's masts and to control or set the sails. 12. Stern: The rear part of the ship. 13. Galley: The kitchen area on a ship. 14. Quarterdeck: The part of the upper deck near the stern, often reserved for officers. 15. Cabin: A private room on a ship. 16. Bulkhead: A dividing wall or barrier between compartments in a ship. 17. Fathom: A unit of length equal to six feet, used in measuring the depth of water. 18. Knot: A unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour. 19. Anchor: A heavy object used to moor a vessel to the sea bottom. 20. Bilge: The lowest part of the ship's interior where water collects. 21. Chart: A map used for navigation at sea. 22. Compass: An instrument used for navigation and orientation that shows direction. 23. Latitude: The measurement of distance north or south of the Equator. 24. Longitude: The measurement of distance east or west of the Prime Meridian. 25. Logbook: A record of important events or data on a ship.
