My breath caught in my throat at Mrs. Lin's words. The Elders were coming here? My lip trembled before I took a deep breath to regain my composure. "Who told you that they were coming?" I asked, my voice barely able to stay steady.
"I just found a letter in my tray when I went to go take out the mail," she explained, wringing her hands again. She looked horribly upset, but I also had a nagging feeling that she was leaving something out.
