Typically, if a wolf has a human mate, they go to live with humans. It's too dangerous for them to live among us. However, as an Alpha, he had to pick between not only his family, but his entire Pack, and all their generations, or his mate. No wonder why he was so cruel hearted and short with everyone. I can't imagine the pain he had to have been in, because humans cannot even accept a rejection, so you are always bonded to them.
