>>>>>>>>>>>DAMIEN’S POV
I got to West library and of course, the meeting has ended. I could see people staring at me and probably gossiping. Some call me the unfortunate child, others said I was a mistake.
Well, it has always been their habit. Gossiping about me, saying how terrible they think I was. Can’t a young man like me have a choice of his own?
“Damien” someone called out and it was my brother Javier coming out of the elevator with my mom. I could tell how disappointed mom was with the look on her face.
“Damien where the hell have you been, your dad might probably disown you at this rate” she said
“Oh Mrs West, you worry too much. I’m not sacred of dad and you know that”
“Well, you should be” Zander said coming towards us with two of his bodyguards. Zander is the proud one amongst us. People do say I’m the proud one because I don’t care about West Library but Zander is actually the proud one. He’s also the eldest.
Zander, who’s 27 sees himself as the most handsome amongst us. He also feels like he can have whatever he wants because he’s from a wealthy family. Javier on the other hand.. well is a playboy of 24. He loves everything under the skirt and I guess that’s the reason he loves this library so much. Because of the ladies here.
“And why should I be, almighty Zander?” I asked with an eye roll
“Cause dad said he’s giving you one last chance. Though you shouldn’t be hearing it from me, but he plans on kicking you out of his house with nothing if you fail his last task”
“Well, that’s great news. I am so tired of being his puppet” I said with a huge smile on my face
“Will you stop all this Damien?!” Mom yelled
“You should be ashamed of yourself. Your brothers are trying their best to keep this library in shape, but all you care about is yourself” she said
“Well Mrs West, if you’re that ashamed of me, why don’t you disown me like your dear husband wants to” I said to her and walked away
“I blame myself for spoiling you, that’s why you turned out to be a brat!” She yelled
“Whatever Mrs West” I said as I walked into the elevator
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
“Damien!” Dad yelled as he slammed the door shut. He walked to his table, poured himself a glass of wine and gulped down everything
“Let me explain sir” I tried speaking
“Explain? Did you just say explain? Damien what the hell is your problem?” He asked pacing around the room
“You had one job, just one job. Attend the meeting, that was all I asked from you Damien” he said staring into my eyes this time
“I know but it wasn’t my fault, I swear”
“It wasn’t your fault? Really? Then whose fault was it? Answer me! Whose fault!?” He kept on yelling
“My driver knocked down a lady” I said, staring at the floor
“Well, I’m not surprised. You’re incompetent, so what do I expect from your driver?”
“Dad!” I yelled
“ I don’t want to hear your excuse, just make sure the lady doesn’t say a word to anyone”
“Yea, I asked the nurse on duty to inform her to call me once she’s discharge”
“Reckless! How can you allow the nurse see your face? How many times do I have to remind you guys that nobody should know who you are!” He kept on yelling
“Enough dad!” I yelled
I’m tired of hearing him raise his voice at him. Does he think I’m that daft or stupid?
“She doesn’t know who I am” I said to him
“I’d love to take my leave now if that’s all you want to say to me”
“I’m not done with you Damien” he said and sat down on his seat
“I know your brothers might have delivered my message to you. You have just one last chance”
“You know I’d love it if you disown me, so why are you holding back?” I asked him
“You’re to find a librarian or a reader for the library” he said ignoring my question
“And how do you suppose I do that?” I asked him
“You’re Damien West, you’ll figure it out. You can leave” he said
I stared at one last time and walked towards the door.
“One last chance Damien!” He yelled
I waved my hands at him and left the office.
“Find a librarian” he said. “Find a reader” he said. How on earth I’m I supposed to do that? Why on earth would I want to do that? I would love it if he kicks me out of his house. Then I would have a life of my own. No one to boss me around and I do not need to care about that stupid library.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I walked into my office only to find a pile of paper on my desk. I picked one of the papers and found out that it was a flier. Was it really necessary? I don’t want to help West library, and even if I wanted to, I won’t be needing this much flier. I am Damien West, no one can reject me if I asked.
I folded the paper and dipped it into my pocket. One will do. My phone rang and it turned out to be an unknown number.
“Speak to me” I said
“Hello.. hello.. what kind of bad service is this?” The person from the other end said. It sounded like a lady
“Hello, is this Damien?”she asked, it was clear now.
“Who are you?” I asked
“Oh, sorry, apologies. My name is Mia” she said
“So?” I asked
“The nurse from a hospital gave me your card. I told her she was mistaken but she insisted that I should give you a call” she said
“Sinai hospital?” I asked
“Oh yes. So you did ask her to give me the card”
“Yea I did”
“But who are you?” She asked
Is she being serious right now? She doesn’t know who I am?
“Meet me at Lucid in 30 mins” I said to her
“The cafe?” She asked
“No, the school” I said
“Is there a school named Lucid?” She asked
Is she so dumb?
“I was being sarcastic lady. You know what? Just meet me there. And be sure to tell them Damien West asked you to meet him. Bye” I said and hung up

>>>>>>>>>>> MIA’S POV
Damien West? Why does the name sound so familiar?
I should have gone home before giving him a call. I really need to return Lucy’s dress. Although its already dirty, I still need to give her back and explain things to her.
I boarded a cab and asked him to take me to Lucid Cafe. He stared at me awkwardly and asked;
“Are you sure that’s where you’re going?”
“Why?” I asked
“Never mind. Get in” he said
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
“Do you have a reservation?” The security asked
“Uhm Damien West asked me to meet him here” I said
“Ooh” he said looking at me thoroughly
“Walk down there, you’ll see him” he said pointing inside
“He’s already here?” I asked
“ Of course”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I walked down the cafe and saw someone facing the wall
“Sir Damien” I called out. He turned to me and I was speechless.
I was sure he wasn’t a male model, but he should have been. He had a lode-gold hair, which he groomed so carefully. His entrancing wayfarer-blue eyes was gazed at me which brought butterflies in my stomach. It was sole shaped, they could shine as bright as the evening stars when they are a-light with joy. At other times they could resemble two liquid-blue pools of flashing fire.
The aqua-line nose he sported complemented his prominent cheek bones. Calling him handsome will be an understatement. His spartan shoulders spoke of strength as he stood like one with authority. He was tall and fierce. He was neatly dressed in a black suit that made his eyes pop out. His skin was as smooth as milk. As I got close to him, I could smell his spicy aroma which was appealing . His lips were cute and I felt like kissing them.
“Sit” he said with his deep voice that melted my heart and brought shivers down my spine. Never have I ever seen someone as handsome as he was.
“You’re drooling by the way” he said as he sat down kingly on his seat. He wasn’t wrong, I was drooling. Who wouldn’t?
“So you’re Mia?” He asked staring at me with disgust
“Yes” I replied
“Good. Let’s cut to the chase” he said dipping his hands into his pocket, bringing out a piece of paper and placing it in front of me. I stared at his hand and felt like placing mine on them.
“That is a cheque of $200 thousand, make sure you don’t tell anyone about the accident” he said
Is he bribing me?
“But sir..”
“I don’t bargain with people like you. Take the money, it is obvious you need it” he said and stood up. I was sure he was about taking his leave
“And mind you, if you dare say a word to anyone, you wouldn’t like what I’ll do” he said, walking towards the door of the cafe. His walk showed that he possessed a latent, leonine power and a sense of purpose and authority. He walked with his shoulders held high and didn’t glance back.
As I stood up to take my leave, I saw a piece of paper on the floor. It was a flier. It looked like a job offer. I guess it belonged to him.
I quickly picked up the cheque and ran outside the cafe. It was already late, I missed him. How on earth do I return the flier back to him?
