Then Maya added in a frustrated tone, "Well? Are you satisfied now? Does that mean we can put all of this ugly mess behind us and just start afresh?"
"Of course it does," Jamal agreed hastily while standing up and moving towards the bathroom, "But it's only fair if I apologize for my mistakes too. And if I don't make up for my actions then I can't be held accountable for them anymore...right?"
Maya raised a skeptical eyebrow as he walked away from her towards the bathroom, then she gave him a long stare before answering, "Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night...but I'm telling you right now that I'm not interested in forgiving your sins."
After giving him a brief moment to reply, she followed after him inside the small washroom and waited patiently for him to finish brushing his teeth
