Bathel said, and he also rose to his feet.   "Save up your strength; in exactly three nights from tonight, I will come for you. I will help you leave here and get past the forest. Forget I ever said this." He began walking back in the direction from which we came. I followed right behind him. I didn't let myself think of what he had proposed, nor did I let myself ponder the intense look in his eyes when he looked at me. All I wanted was to leave the sunflower pack. Alive.
