I swallowed hard and clenched my jaw, forcing myself to stay calm. "Will you help me or not?" I asked, not moving my gaze from his face. I gave nothing away, not fear or desperation. I was determined not to let him get that satisfaction. "Will I help you or not? Will I help him or not?" Callihan repeated to thin air. Like one who was lost in thought, he tapped his fingers lightly on the table before him. "Yes, Callihan. Will you help me?" I repeated.
