Chapter Ten

1080 Words
Hawk’s POV I couldn’t believe I had the balls to f*****g kiss her! It wasn’t a full-blown kiss like I wanted, but instead, I gave her a gentle kiss, something that would make her come back begging for more. Every moment I had with her is pure bliss to me. After she got off the phone with her friend in New York, she asked me to stay with her, holding her throughout the night. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest when she asked me. It was like a dream come true. I get to spend the night holding the woman of my dreams. That night, I lay there in bed with Arielle, holding her, listening to her breathing as she slept. There were a few moans, her yelling out no in her sleep, sometimes restless in her sleep, like she was trying to fight back. Each time she had a nightmare, I would hold her tighter, reassure her everything was alright, and kiss the top of her head. Arielle would calm down in her sleep and continue having sweet dreams, hoping they were of me. In the middle of the night, there was a knock on the door, and Raven entered the room. She had a worried look on her face. "Hawk, Rogue wants to talk to you," she informed me. "It’s important, and it’s about Arielle." I looked down at her, sleeping so sweetly in my arms. Raven knew what I was thinking. “I’ll stay with her; make sure she stays sleeping.” I nodded, kissed the top of Arielle’s head, and carefully slipped out of bed, trying not to wake her. She groaned in her sleep in protest, and I smiled. “I will be back, my sweetheart,” I whispered in her ear, kissing her temple, and left the room in the care of Raven. Rogue was standing out in the hallway, pacing impatiently with a worried look on his face. He was smoking a cigarette, taking one long drag after another. When he saw me, he instantly handed me his tablet. “There is a hit on her,” he told me as I read the contract. Ten million dollars for her, dead or alive. “Ten million is a lot of money, and I know how much she means to you, but as your brother, I promise to keep her safe,” he told me, placing his arm across his body, placing his fist on his heart. Rogue is our bounty hunter, one of the best in the country. Not only does he find someone for us, but he also takes outside contracts to make extra money not only for himself but also for the club. “Who placed the hit?” I growled at him, not taking my eyes off his tablet. “The Rinaldi’s,” he told me. “I don’t know why they sent it out to outside help when they have men quite capable of doing the job. She must be important to be found fast.” “Yeah, she is,” I replied. “She has important information that could bring the Rinaldi’s down. They want it back.” “Then give it back to them,” he tells me. “So, you can live your life with Arielle.” “If she does, her ex will find her and finish what he started in New York,” I told him. “That ledger is leverage for her life, for her freedom.” “Make copies and send it back to them,” Rogue suggested. “With that being here puts the club in danger.” “Do you honestly believe that anyone has the balls to f**k with us?” I reminded him. “Whoever shows up at that gate will not walk all the way through alive. You of all people should know that.” “There are people out there who are more powerful than us and could take us down.” I thought about his comment. It was the truth. A lot of other clubs, gangs, and mafia won’t f**k with us. We are the biggest connection to the smuggling highway in the Southwest US and northern Mexico. We have even made runs to Central America. “Just keep me posted,” I told him, handing back his tablet. “I know you have connections, and if someone comes for her, we will be ready.” “Yes, sir,” he says, and leaves me alone in the hallway. This new information has me wound up, and there is no way I can get back to sleep. Plus, I didn’t want to wake Arielle up when she needed the rest right now, so her body can heal faster. I popped my head into the room to check on her, and Raven was on the bed with her, both asleep. With the opportunity I have, I decided to go out and smoke a joint to calm my nerves and calm me down. There is so much rage built up inside me, and I want blood, but right now, I don’t want to leave her here alone. I went to my room, got my blunt, and went outside to smoke. Outside, Titan’s nephews, the triplets, Torch, Havoc, and Reaper, the club Enforcers, met me. “What’s up, boss?” Torch asked me as I sat down in a chair. “Can’t sleep,” I replied. “Need something to calm me down.” “Here, brother,” Chaos said as he handed me a bottle of moonshine. I held up my hand, stopping him. He should know I don’t drink. I have seen too many of my family and friends destroy their lives because of the bottle. “I’m good,” I declined, lighting my blunt. The sweet aroma of the weed filled my nostrils, and I could feel the drug working its magic, and my nerves had calmed. “Gonna share?” Reaper asked me, eyeing my blunt. Scoffing, I passed the blunt to him, where he took a big hit off it. He passed it to his brothers, where they both took a hit, and then handed it back to me. I sat there smoking, trying to come up with a game plan to protect Arielle, to make sure she doesn’t go back to New York. I have just found her, and I don’t want to lose her already.
