chapter four ~hawk-liked boys~

I have to wake up early to go to school and submit my college application, the admission counselor only comes in on Thursdays and I want to be an early bird because I want a scholarship too. Am quite familiar with Mrs. Smith because she counsels me when the incident with my mom happened and I was devastated, she helped me through it all and gave me the will to go on and fight for a better place in this cruel world, she told me that if I don't want my children to go through what I had to then I have to build a great future for them and it starts now.

I knock on her office door and she asked me to come in and have my seat, I hand her my application and ask her if it will get me a full-tuition scholarship and she said yes, I thank her and she talked about how proud of me she is, that am doing it right and should keep it up.

I left her office and met Aiden on my way to my locker.

"good morning misses beautiful"; he greeted me while throwing his arm around my neck.

"well good morning to you too Mr handsome, have you seen Kayla this morning.

"not yet, I saw you exiting the counselor's office and followed you till I catch up with you".

"Alright, let me quickly drop my bag then we can go look for her".

"hey, bestie; kay shouted from across the hallway.

"speak of the devil and she shall appear; Aiden groaned.

"well, have you seen a devil as sexy as me; Kayla said while spinning around.

"well, all sins are sexy, that's why it's easy to sin; I replied."

"am not a sin, if anything you are the nun here; she screeched.

"if abstinence and staying away from all these hawk-liked boys is a nun then am glad am one; I fired back at her.

"Amy, I hope am not among those hawk-liked boys, Aiden asked.

"of course you are, I replied facing him, do you have a serious relationship?.

"nope; he said popping the p.

"All you do is f**k around and break girls heart; I replied.

"no offenses but they know what they were getting into; he replied.

"that's what they say after seducing them; Kayla retorted."

"I can't win this, so let's get to class, we don't want miss nerd here to be late; he said as he drags us to class.

"as if you aren't a student of this school; I retorted back at him.

We went to class and before I know it, the closing bell rings and I pack up my things and went straight to Mrs. Simon's house.

"good afternoon Mrs. Simon; I greeted as she opens the door for me."

"good afternoon Amelia, I have been waiting for you have a sit please."

"thank you, where are the kids?"

"they are upstairs, Jason passed his project and ask me to thank you because you helped him with it."

"it's no problem really, he is a sweet boy."

"less I forgot, my husband's boss needed a housekeeper, so he recommends you, so here is the card you can call his wife anytime."

"oh, thank you very much, Mrs. Simon.

"no worries, it's your work that speaks for you."

"I hope they are nice people like you."

"of course, birds of the same feather flock together."

"I will call the number when I get home."

"make sure you do, they are going to pay you more.

"that's good then.

Mrs. Simon went out and I clean the house and help the children with their homework, I did mine too to kill time while waiting for her to come back.

she asked me to stay for dinner when she came back and I politely refuse as I have another work I have to go to.

I got home around 6:30 pm and decide to call the number Mrs. Simon gave me.

"Hello, this is Amelia speaking Mrs. Simon gave me your contact."

"Are you the housekeeper she told my husband about?.

"yes, Mrs?

"Ohh, where are my manners am Sophia King.

"okay Mrs. King, how can I be of service to you?.

" I want someone that can cook and clean well, and you have to come in on Friday and leave on Monday morning.

"I can work around that.

"When will you be able to start?.

"When did you want me to start?

"I will be very glad if you can start tomorrow.

"it's a deal then Mrs. King.

"if am satisfied with your work I will pay you well.

"I wish to please you ma.

"All alright then, I will send you my address then you can come tomorrow.

"Ok, goodbye then.

"goodbye Amelia, I look forward to meeting you.

"likewise Mrs. King.

I drop her call and Kayla stroll into my living room.

"How did you know am back? I asked her.

"I just wanted to stay and wait for you till you are back; she replied.

"Why did you look wasted? I sniff the air around her.

"I went with Aiden to a pool party and had a few glasses of beer; she slurred.

"A few glasses indeed, and where is that asshat, how can he leave you to come here alone; I cussed.

"relax, I called a designated driver and am not drunk; she said.

"yeah, you are sober as hell; I mock her.

"Just get me some water; she said.

"here you are; I handed her a glass of water while taking off her shoes and placing a blanket on her as she already collapsed on my couch.

we are the opposite but I love her because she is a true friend that does not care about financial status.
