Elena's POV The smell of antiseptic burns my nostrils as I finish stitching up Jake's arm. Third werewolf I've patched up this morning, and it's not even ten o'clock yet. The attacks from Martinez's people are getting bolder, leaving us with more wounded and less time to heal. "Try not to shift for at least six hours," I tell Jake, tying off the last stitch. "Let the wound close properly." "Thanks, Doc." He flexes his arm carefully. "Feels good as new." "It's not new, so don't treat it like it is." Jake grins and heads out, leaving me alone with my thoughts and the mess of bloody gauze scattered across my makeshift medical station.
