Chapter Three 3

1002 Words
Olivia's Pov A few moments later, the doctor came to the ward where I was admitted to check up on me. "Olivia, are you okay?" The doctor asked. "I'm fine sir." I replied to him. "Are you still feeling any pain?" "Yes, but it's just slightly, the drugs has suppressed the pains already." "Alright then, you will be fine." The doctor assured me. "Doctor, thank you for your hospitality." My dad thanked him. "You are welcome sir, I'm just doing my duty." "Can I take her home today?" Dad asked the doctor. "Yes you can, just let her rest more for a while." "Okay, thank you." Dad said happily. When I was discharged from the hospital, my dad embraced me tightly, relieved to see his daughter safe but visibly weak. He drove me home quietly in his car. We were lost in thoughts, he was probably thinking of what caused the accident and I was thinking about how to face the same issue at work the next day. When we got home, my father helped me to settle in, making sure that I was as comfortable as possible. Our house, which was always bubbling, was really dull due to the condition I was in at that moment. Dad made simple food, because the food was important for my recovery. My dad and I sat together at the table, he broke the silence by saying words of assurance. The relationship of intimacy between father and daughter surfaced. In the evening, Dad insisted on helping me with everything. From getting pain relief drugs to arranging pillows for support. To my surprise, the accident made us closer. The next morning came and with a sense of persistence. I was still nursing my wounds, but I was determined to face the challenges ahead. Dad, who was a very caring man had prepared breakfast, understanding the importance of feeding well while taking medication. He asked what happened in the office that made me unconscious of my environment. "Olivia, how are you feeling now?" He asked "I'm fine dad." I replied to him with a smile. "I made your favorite, please eat and take your drugs dear" "Okay, thank you Dad." "Are you sure that you will be able to go to work today? Why not rest at home and inform them of your condition." Dad said "No.., I need to be at the office today, it's very important that I am there." I said "Really? We are talking about your health here Olivia." "Dad, I will be fine." "So, what exactly happened at your office today?" "I'm eating dad, and this is not the best time to talk, when I get back from work, I will talk to you." I said, rushing my food. "Alright, if you insist." Dad said. He gave me words of encouragement, a touch of fatherly advice and sincere support. He told me that the journey was unpredictable, and each moment was an opportunity to learn and grow in life. When I left for work, I didn't just go with bruises on my skin from the accident, but also a newfound appreciation for the people who cared for me. The unexpected encounter at the office and the accident had shown those who truly cared for me. When I got to work, I observed that there was tension in the air. The staff members looked at me with sympathy and curiosity, because they knew what happened the day before. The office, once a place of work, now became the center of settling conflicts. "Good morning Isabella" I greeted her and thanked her for supporting me the other day. "Morning Olivia, what happened to you? How did you get wounded?" Isabella said, looking at the bruises on my skin. "A car hit me on my way home yesterday, but it wasn't a major accident, it's a minor one." I told Isabella with a smile. "Minor? You call this minor? See your body Olivia." "It's fine Isabella." "Have you taken drugs?" She asked. "The driver that hit me took me to the hospital, I was given drugs and injections so I'm fine now." "You shouldn't have come to work today because of your health." Isabella said. "You know the situation on ground, if I do come they will think I absconded with the money." "Ohhh that's quite realistic, sorry dear." Isabella showed her care and concern for me, meanwhile Charlotte saw me and ignored me like I never existed. As I went to my desk, a few minutes later my boss Richard Walton demanded my presence in his office. With a deep breath, I entered, waiting for the continuation of the argument and accusations of the previous day. I was surprised to see Mrs Emily Walton, standing in my boss's office at such an early hour. She had never been that early. She ignored the obvious signs of the bruises on my skin, she continued the accusations and threats, it was as if I should still be in the hospital and not come to the office that day. "Good morning sir, good morning ma."I greeted them calmly. "Keep your greetings, have you brought my money?" Mrs Emily Walton asked. I was frustrated and disbelief welled up within me. I tried to explain what happened to me on my way home, but she refused to listen as she kept on nagging and shouting. "If you don't provide that money before the end of today, you will find yourself locked up." My boss's wife said. "Emily, take it easy on her, can't you see the bruises on her skin, you are supposed to ask her what happened before unleashing anger on her this early morning. I told you before we left home not to prolong this matter but you insisted." Richard Walton said to his wife. "I told you to stay out of this Richard, I want that particular money back and if she doesn't pay it she will regret it." She replied in a rude manner. .
