Zach watched as Dani pulled her little truck out of the yard, Mark with her, and knew he’d have to figure this out if there was any chance for him and Dani. Until she’d brought up having seen Marci, Zach had forgotten that the two had not gotten along. He couldn’t believe he’d forgotten. He could have lied about Marci and what had gone on between them, but it would have eventually come out. It was obvious now that Marci couldn’t keep from rubbing it in Dani’s face that she’d had him, at least occasionally, for the last ten years, while Dani hadn’t. Though, ‘had him’ was a generous term. Zach hadn’t been lying when he’d told Dani they hadn’t had a relationship. At least not the way he thought of relationships, they’d been friends with benefits when neither was seeing someone else.
