The moment I stepped into the room, Enzo’s men closed the door and the lock clicked. I turned towards the bed and sank into it, my heart aching with pain as my mother’s words echoed in my head.
A harsh breath left my lips, I buried my face in my palms. It was all my fault for not being there with her when she woke up, the guilt sank in making fresh tears roll down my eyes.
Her voice kept replaying in my mind. The way she had sounded hurt and broken. My chest tightened until it felt like I couldn’t breathe.
