Other Woman

Chapter 2 In a matter of months, I became the ‘other woman’ in my matrimonial home. Drake and Bianca became glued to the hip. They had stopped hiding their affairs and even felt very comfortable being romantic in front of me. The first time I caught them together, Drake had hurriedly jumped off Bianca's half-naked body like she was a plague. “Avery," he muttered with a wide look, sweat glistening over his smooth tanned skin. The skin I had once enjoyed running my hands through while he kissed the hell out of me. But I couldn't even bear to look at him at that moment. My husband and my sister/best friend were having an affair. I felt my heart squeezed in pain. It was so physically painful I could hardly release a breath. A tear dropped down my face as I looked down at my sister whose face was now flushed with embarrassment. “How long?" I whispered or more like croaked since I was now sobbing lightly They didn't respond. But I could not leave the scene without some sought of explanation. “Why?!!" I screamed this time. " A_avery…it's not what it looks like,” Bianca said as she quickly stood up, clutching the duvet to her chest like her life depended on it. " Then tell me. Please tell me you haven't been sleeping with my husband right under my roof. You're my sister, Bianca. My best friend. And he_” I looked back at Dave who now wore a stoic expression on his face. " He's my husband.” "No_no. We were drunk. We were so drunk, we didn't know what we were doing,” Bianca quickly explained. I scoffed as I let another tear roll down my face. " Liar. It's you Bianca. You've always liked to create chaos whenever my happiness was involved,” I spat at her. " She's not lying, Avery. We were extremely drunk…we couldn't have known what we were doing. You need to stop overreacting,” Drake immediately spoke. And it was at that moment I truly looked into his eyes. And I saw it…the redness of it and the way they looked back at me slightly unfocused. And like a fool, I believed them. But I was still scared. Bianca was gorgeous. Maybe the most beautiful woman I had set my eyes on. It would be so easy for Drake to fall for her. “She has to leave," I said after slamming his study door. " What are you talking about?” He asked without looking up from his laptop. “Bianca. She can't stay here anymore." His eyes s**t up to him and I watched as it hardened with a glare. “She has nowhere to go, Avery,” he said, his time sharp as if he was dating me to protest. “Her apartment lease ended suddenly. She will stay with us for a while.” But I knew it was a clear lie. Bianca had inherited our adoptive parent's wealth, she could buy a house without thinking. But I could not say this out loud. The look on Drake's face was deadly cold. I turned away from him as I let a tear stride down my cheeks. The day Bianca announced her pregnancy, the whole house erupted into celebration. I remembered Drake’s mother's smile. It was brighter than the Sun. Well…until she looked at me. It turned into a bitter scorn. “I warned my son before he married you. I wonder what he ever saw in you. You were always the lesser half. But I'm glad he finally saw you for who you truly are. You could not even hold a child in that womb of yours. Pathetic!” She spat at me before strolling down the hall to go congratulate my sister once again. I just stood there, my hands trembling in front of me, but my eyes staring straight ahead. No tears this time. I wanted to scream the house down, but somehow I couldn't even summon the strength to cry. This was my matrimonial home. The man kissing my sister was my husband. This was my life. But I failed to realize it had been stolen away from me by the person I trusted the most. Do I run away? Start a new life in a small city? The thought burned my chest. I couldn't live without Drake. No matter what he did, I couldn't leave him. He was my life, unfortunately. And I knew I would take the insult and disrespect over and over again and long as I get to be called his wife. I walked towards the room where the three of them were currently in. They looked like the perfect family. The one I had yearned for, for years. Drake's hand was placed above Bianca's belly as he rubbed on it soothingly. His eyes were soft and lively, something I hadn't seen in a long time. I should be the one he was looking at with so much admiration. But instead, my sister was at the end of his affection. Suddenly, she looked up at me with a big grin. “It's a boy,”she announced. Drake looked at me too, his eyes shining with a joy so strange, I thought it was a dream. A boy. Those two words hit me like a knife to the chest. I tried to open my mouth to say a congratulatory message, but only a sob came out. I quickly closed my mouth. It was Drake's dream. He had always wanted a boy. I knew it from the first time I had conceived. Though he tried to tell me he didn't mind. He would love our daughter just as much as he would have loved a son. But I saw the glint of disappointment and sadness behind his eyes. They were all watching me…wondering what I would say next. I just wanted to leave the room and hide away forever. I felt useless. I didn't feel like a woman. “You could not even hold a child in that womb of yours,” Drake's mum's voice rang in my head. God! I disgusted myself. I swallowed loudly and finally opened my mouth to say something. “That's lovely, Bianca. I'm very happy for you. I hope you__” I was suddenly cut off by Drake’s mum's voice. “Hold it! You're not about to bless her with that cursed mouth of yours, are you?” She said with so much venom I stumbled back. “Mum,” I whispered as my eyes burned with tears. “I'm not your mother! You think I don't know what you are? You're no ordinary woman, Avery. I know you purposely lose those children because you're too scared to ruin your perfect figure. You've always been so superficial,” she spat at me. “You're a disgrace to womanhood!” I looked down at myself in embarrassment before looking back up. I didn't even see my body as perfect. I had always had a slight body dysmorphia. Her words were a clear lie. “That's not true,” I muttered quietly. “You're calling me a liar now?” She scoffed, glaring at me. I widened my eyes and looked at Drake and then to my sister, but they just watched silently…Bianca’s shining with amusement. “Your sister is pregnant with my sons heir. You can't continue acting all high and mighty. Your sister is superior now. Forget that you're the one married to Drake, Bianca owns his heart.” “Go now. Go prepare us some cups of tea. You can't be barren and lazy at the same time.” Those were the last thing I heard before I ran out of the room, but not before witnessing Bianca's sly smile. I thought that day would mark the end of my marriage to Drake. Everyday I anticipated a neat divorce papers laying on my desk, but it never came. I hardly slept at night. Their laughter haunted me. It didn't even take long before Drake told me to move out of the room so he and Bianca could move in. He had seized sleeping in the same room as me a week after Bianca arrived. I had lost all hope. Until one night when I had suddenly caught a wink of sleep. But it didn't last long since I suddenly felt light feathery kids going down my neck to my boobs. When I opened my eyes, I was shocked to see who was on top of me, staring at me with a lust filled gaze.
