Chapter 6.Ritual December 30th, somewhere near Salem. It was the day New Year's Eve and Daemas and Amarantia were on their date before they partook in the Bonding Ritual. The two had been courting for three months now and neither can no longer deny this souls of its other half. So, they were Bonding today. A Bonding/Binding Ritual was the same thing as a human wedding, only difference is that this one will forever bind their souls together. So if one of them were to die, the other will become depressed and commit suicide, that or become a shell of their former self. The strong willed ones would fight and live on, for the sake of their loved ones, but the loss and longing ache for their dead other half will still be there - most of them might not even engage in relationships as a result. Amarantia and Daemas were on top of a mountain, sitting down on a conjured stone bench and staring at the magnificent full moon. “It's so beautiful, isn’t it?” Amarantia asked her soon to be Bonded, who hummed in reply. “Thank you for bringing me here.” “No need to thank me, my dear.” The Vampyre said with a small smile. “You need to cool your mind my dear.” He told her, placing a hand on her cheek. “With the stress and anxiety I know you’re going through lately, I thought this might help before we leave.” Amarantia took hold of his wrist and nuzzled her cheek in his smooth palms. “And it did. Thank you.” She smiled at him. Amarantia looked beautiful and breathe taking in her green ceremonial robes. Her hair had ornaments decorated in it, and she smelled of vanilla and pine. Daemas took those cherry coloured lips and kissed her with passion. Like always, she was left breathless when they parted. Amarantia breathed heavily, looking into those hungry crimson eyes. If it wasn’t for tradition, as well as her insecurities, Daemas would have already devoured her months ago. With a deep blush on her cheeks, Amarantia laid her head on his shoulder and held his hand. Daemas chuckled deeply at her shyness. He laid a kiss on her head, making the eighteen year old blush the more, before joining her in staring at the glorious night sky. The ding of the giant town square bell ended their peaceful moment. Midnight. It was time. Daemas stood up with Amarantia still in his arms. His wings sprouted from his back, leaving his grey ceremonial robe untouched. With lightning speed, she took Amarantia into his arms, holding her in a bridal style. The teen almost yelped but instead optioned to glare up at the Vampyre with a blush on her cheeks. Said Vampyre just grinned lightly at her, getting a huff from her. Without further ado, Daemas leaped into the air and took off to the ritual spot. Amarantia savoured the wind blowing against her, closing her eyes in pleasure. She was in love with being in the air the very moment Daemas took her flying. Soon, the two reached the ceremonial spot in no time. A bond fire was already alit, and everyone, even John in his large as hell wolf form. Daemas landed softly on the ground and gently set Amarantia down on her bare feet. He too was bare, but he wasn’t bothered. It was only one night after all. The two walked to the temporary stone alter and stood in front of the Priest. “Dearly cherished children of Magic and Nature, we are here in the presence of the Mothers to witness the Bonding of this two special individuals.” The Priest, who was an elder Nymkas and was invited to officiate the ritual, started. “We are here today to join these two together, as it was destined by Magic Herself. Who stands to bear as witnesses for the two of them?” Amarantia's mother and brother stepped up and stood by her side, while Mr. Fredrick and his wife Marisa did the same for Daemas. The Williamses had come to like Daemas and see him as family. Seeing as he was Amarantia’s destined Mate, they took their time knowing him. When he wanted to stay in town for a few days – to avoid any suspicion – the Williams’ would house him in their home. Knowing the traditions, Marisa and Fredrick asked Daemas if he wanted them to be his witnesses. If Daemas were not so aloof, he’d had a single blood tear trailing down his cheek that moment. He was touched beyond imagination. “The two to be Bonded, step forward please.” The elderly Magkas said. Both Amarantia and Daemas step onto the alter, holding each other's hand. “You both know what you are entering into, right?” “Yes, we do.” They replied together. “And yet you still want to press forward?” “Yes, we do.” “Then let's not waste much time then.” The elderly Magkas conjured the Bonding chains and wrapped their right hand – Daemas’ – and left hand –Amarantia’s – together. “We are gathered here today to witness the Soul Binding of these two people. Please, face each other and utter your promises to each other.” The couple did as they were told and they smiled at each other, staring into each other’s eyes. “Amarantia, my love,” Daemas began. “When I first met you, it was, unfortunately, not on good terms. Most people would have ran away and not bother to associate themselves with me by now – but you didn't. Even though it clearly showed that you itched to kill me, you didn't. And I can tell it's not because we are Soulmates. As time passed by, I couldn't help falling in love with you, soulmate or not. You began to light up my world as the days went by. I wished to be with you forever and it seems my wish has been answered. Amara…” He paused and held her cheek with his free hand, caressing it. “I promise to love and protect you. The world will be at your feet from now on, and I’d burn it all to the ground if you so wish it. This I promise you.”
