BOOK 1. IN THE BEGINNING The Breath Taking Encounter 22nd September 1692, Salem Village Humans. Creatures of fragility. A little pressure levelled on them will either break them or drive them into stupidity. They lose their sense of reasoning and things will basically go to hell and up in flames. That’s what’s currently happening with the people inhabiting Salem Village. 'It's just an excuse to get rid of unwanted people.' Amaraetia mused, eyes rolling in disdain. Amarantia Eumenides was a maiden of eighteen years. She lived with her mother, seventeen year old brother and her two female cousins in a nice cottage in the town of Salem. She was blessed with a head of fine, smooth and silky raven hair, as well as a beauty like that of a goddess and eyes a beautiful shade of sea green. 'Humans are such pathetic creatures.' She snorted, thinking about the trial that commenced today, which ended with the hanging of Mary Towne Eastey; another innocent victim by the hands of the masses. Now you might be wondering why she was thinking like this. Well, Amarantia was not human of course. She's half Belakya and half Daemon. What are those? Well, a quick history before we progress. Belakya's are descendants of Laekya – the r**e child between a Daemon and Elemental Nymph – and Belarus – the first Magik Caster – who was given his powers by the Celestial Spirits – Mother Magic and Mother Nature – after he risked his life to save the magikal Forest of Ardael, which held the Gem of Eternal Life and Power, from the hands of ruthless humans. Being a soldier before he got his powers, he managed to kill all twenty of them, but was fatally wounded. He laid on the ground, ready to die with a smile on his face. But seeing how this man, this mere mortal, was willing to die in order to save their forest while others were ready to a***e it, Mother Magic and Mother Nature came together and they each transferred a little bit of their powers into him, thus saving his life, and at the same time, making him the first Magic Caster. Seeing that the Forest was no longer safe in the presence of mortals, Magic and Nature decided to move the Forest into the Island of Elisium – which housed the Nymphs, Sirens and Merfolk, and was unseen and unknown by humans. It was unaffected by time, and it was as its name implied; a paradise. It was there Belarus met Laekya. Laekya was a mixed breed between an Elemental Nymph and a Daemon. Back then, Nymphs and Daemons had a rough history between themselves. It was so bad that the Nymphs had to move far away from the mortal realm and into this space created by the Celestial Mothers. Due to the unprovoked deaths they were facing in all corners, they begged Mother Magic and Mother Nature to help them, and them being their children, they did. They created an Island where no Daemon or human can penetrate or see. The Nymphs were later joined by the Sirens and Mer-people who too where running away from the jaws of the Slyra Clan – beings that fed on the fleshes of Sirens and Mer-people. The Celestial Mothers gave them everything to ensure their survival and they still looked after them. Now, they each have a section of the Island and live peacefully with themselves. Well, mostly. The Nymphs didn't like Laekya, her being the product of hate and having the blood of a Daemon coursing through her veins. So when Belarus, the human the Celestial Mother favoured and brought to the Island, fell in love with her, they were shocked. The Sirens and Mer-people were happy for her. They were even more pleased that she decided to go back with Belarus to the mortal world. She’d be finally be far away from the Nymphs negativity. What's really funny is that Likya, the Nymph they ridiculed and embarrassed every day, became the mother of the Three Great Clans. Belarus and Laekya had three children: Belasis, Lymca and Nyminir. These three children, as time went, became great and mighty clans of their own. Belasis was a Magic Caster, just like his father, and his generations followed suit. People from the Belasis Clan are easily identified by their eyes, which was sliver with a hint of read, and also by the tattoo on their wrist. The Belasis Clan had 10% Daemon bloodline in them but as the ages pass, they had little or no Daemon blood in them. The people from this clan were soon called Magkas. Lymca was an Elemental Nymph, like her mother. People from the Lymca Clan can be identified by their ethereal beauty, long luscious hair and the birthmark of Likya behind their ear. People from this clan are called Elymps. And like the Belasis Clan, they had 10% Daemon bloodline but like the Belasis clan, the bloodline thinned out. And lastly, Nyminir. He was 40% Magkas, 40% Nymph and 20% Daemon. People from the Nyminir Clan are hard to come by, as Nyminir didn't have any zeal to reproduce. It was a last minute thing. People from this clan are hard to be identified and it’s by sheer luck that they’ll reveal themselves to anyone. They are called Nymkas by the masses. And, surprisingly, the Daemon blood in Nyminir’s bloodline didn't die out like it did with his two siblings. Amarantia's mother, Sedna, was a Human-Nymkas half breed, while her father, Mikhail, is an Earth Type Daemon. Amarantia was 60% Nymkas, 20% Daemon and 20% Human; while her brother Wyre, was 80% Daemon, 15% Nymkas and 5% Daemon. (Belakya is a general term used in calling anyone from any of the three clans.) Now back to Amarantia. Ever since her father disappeared six years ago, she decided to take on the role of the breadwinner – to the displeasure of her mother. Just because the family had supernatural powers didn’t make things easy for them. She works harder than anyone, sometimes getting her mother worried that she’d collapse of exhaustion – forgetting that she’s not human. She ensures the warmth of the family members and provides for them with all they need, to the disgruntlement of everyone. They all thought that they were the ones keeping Amarantia from focusing on her life and such, and so they geared up. But Amarantia didn't move an inch. She still maintains her role as the primary breadwinner. Amarantia served as a maid for one of the wealthy family in town. Her mother used their cottage as a bakery, having the help of her nephews; and her brother does labour works for various people. Even though it wasn’t easy, life was good, seeing as they all had each other.
