After I left Hawaii, I traveled the world. I lived in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Singapore…and many smaller places in between.
I took a few jobs, here and there, simply because I wanted to. I never worked for more than three years in one place. Mostly I worked jobs that I thought could be fun and interesting, though there were a few that turned out to be duds.
I worked in a dog grooming salon. I got to meet the most amazing animals, and I even adopted a few from the local animal shelter. But I never changed one. It just felt wrong to me. So they lived and died with me. Sadie, Mouse, and Yin Yang. They were amazing animals, though I think they knew something was off about me. But they never loved me any less.
