Nyra: I woke up with a sharp jerk, my breath catching halfway in my throat like something had pulled me out of deep water too fast. For a moment, I couldn’t tell where I was. The darkness in the room felt too thick, I blinked twice but still couldn't see anything, my chest rose and fell unevenly as I tried to steady myself. My trembling fingers were clenched into the fabric beneath me, gripping it hard enough to ground myself in something real.
