BELLE: LEAVING PARADISE. My tatay spoils me a lot. I mean a lot! However, my mother is so strict. If they can’t give me what I want? My Tutu Kalena and my Nana will surely give me what I want.
It is a tradition in my mother’s family to allow their children to live independently after high school. Usually, they are already eighteen and considered an adult. As for me, I am only sixteen when I left Hawaii. So, I was a teenager. Mommy and Tatay signed a work permit for me to get a job when I reach San Francisco. Although, I have no plans to work in any other place than my Aunt Lauren’s café.
