Savannah Grace - The Monday After

926 Words
Monday morning I'm sitting in homeroom early as usual. I hear a familiar voice behind me, "is this seat taken?" I turn around and look up to see Brayden looking gorgeous as always in his baseball hat, dark jeans, and red tshirt. "it is now." I say to him as he takes the empty seat beside me. I cannot contain myself, a huge smile stretches across my face. I could really get used to starting my days out like this. We exchange a few words before the bell rings signaling the start of the school day. We turn our attention to the front and get ready to assist with morning announcements. From time to time, I sneak a glance over his way as he works and can't help but smile. A couple of times I catch his eye and we both grin at each other like the goofballs that we are. After homeroom, Brayden insists on walking me to my first class which is the class I share with Jackson. The three of us head in that direction together. I really wish it were just Brayden and I but I like Jackson so I don't mind. We get to my class, Jackson walks in while I linger in the doorway with Brayden. "I guess I'll see you in 7th period?" "I'm looking forward to it" I say. I really want to spend our lunch period together but I know he likes to hang out with Jackson during that time and I really do enjoy hanging out with all my girlfriends. I don't want to be 'that girl' who meets a boy and ditches all her friends to hang out with him 24/7. Just then, he leans over and wraps me in a hug before letting me go and heading on to his firsr class of the day. I walk into math class feeling tingly from his touch and sit down at my seat in front of Jackson. "He really does like you you know" Jackson says to me before class starts. "Good because I really like him too. I owe you, thanks for setting us up. I really hope things work out for us". "No problem, I couldn't stand seeing him going through another year just staring at you from across the halls wishing he could talk to you." "I'm really not that scary!" I say "You are to him, he thinks you are absolutely gorgeous". I don't see it but I smile at him before turning around and getting ready for class to begin. I walk into the lunchroom and wave to Brayden as I take my seat with the girls. It sounds like they are deep in conversation already so I take my seat and join in. "Hey! What are you guys talking about?" "Birthdays!" Amelia replies "Or more like birthday parties!" Several people in our ever expanding group have January birthdays. "January is still 2 months away" I comment. "True but it's never too early to start planning!" Christina responds. Ever the planner she is, it doesn't surprise me. "We are thinking about doing a huge sleepover at my house! We can bring sleeping bags and take over the bonus room". "Sounds good to me!" Amelia says. "We can have dinner, cake, and lots of junk food! Watch some movies or whatever you guys want to do". "Count me in!" I say to them as I take my lunch out and start to eat. "Hey, does anyone know when the first basketball game is?" Micaela looks over at me in shock, "Savannah Grace asking about basketball? Since when are you into sports?" I blush a little, they don't know what's happened over the last few weeks. "Yeah, well, in the honor of school spirit and all..." I trail off. Rachel catches my eye from across the table. I'm pretty sure she knows something is up between our conversation in the hall a month or so ago and the look on my face right now. Thankfully she doesn't say anything to the others but I'm pretty sure she has a good guess as to why I'm really asking. After lunch, we all disperse to our 6th period classes. Rachel catches me in the hall "Wait up!" She says. Her next class isn't near mine but she walks with me a ways. "What's up?" she asks, "I saw you blushing in the cafeteria. I remember that guy Brayden asking for your number. I didn't think he ever sent you anything. Wasn't that all just some stupid prank?" "Actually" I say, "it wasn't. He texted me and him and his friend Jackson came over and hung out this weekend." "NO WAY!" she squeals, "I'm so happy for you! How did it go?" "Pretty great actually. He's a really nice guy. I'm seeing him again soon, just him and I without Jackson this time. Nothing is official or anything but I'm still pretty excited." She gives me an excited hug as she heads off back in the direction we just came from to head to her next class. I walk up the stairs to the dance studio and head into the locker room to get changed. Only one more class to get through then I get to spend the rest of the day with Brayden in Audio Production. As usual, dance class goes by relatively quickly. I grab my things, head downstairs and through the halls towards the production studio. I open the door to the studio, hang my backpack up and get ready to see Brayden.
