Savannah Grace - May

It's the last week of freshman year. Everyone knows the last week is always a joke. Exams are over, basically every class is just about cleaning out the classroom, cleaning out our lockers, and socialization. I'm ready for summer, ready to head to the beach, lay out by the pool, just relax. I've earned it, I got all A's and B's on my report card, made some friends, and already set up my classes for next year. I'd say I'm on the right track. I start zoning out in first period and almost miss the dismissal bell. I walk out of first period and am greeted my Mary and Rachel. They link arms with me, one on each side as we walk down the hall. "So, what are your summer plans?" Mary asks "Nothing too special. Probably some babysitting here and there but I'll definitely be spending some time at the pool. I'm hoping to maybe sneak in a beach trip at some point" "Ooohh" Mary exclaims "Road trip!!!" Rachel looks over at her "How is that going to work? None of us have our license!" "Hmm, we'll figure out the details later. I have something that I need to talk to your girls about. Talk at lunch?" "Of course" I say. My curiosity is up. What could Mary possibly have to tell us. She's usually a pretty open book and rarely can hold anything in. I'm sure it's just about a new boy she met or a sale at our favorite store. I put it out of my mind as I get to my second period class. It's finally lunchtime. I had forgotten about Mary's big news until I walk into the cafeteria. I head over to our table and Mary stands up. "Now that you are all here, I have something I need to tell you all" She says, her face looking somber. "My dad got a new job. It's in Virginia so we will be moving towards the middle of the summer". I hear gasps from Micaela and Jasmine. How could this happen? She's the glue that holds our group together, the plan maker, the social coordinator. What would we do without her? "I plan on visiting so don't look so sad. And we have two whole months to spend together, lets make them count! How about starting off the summer right with a sleepover at my house? We can eat pizza and watch movies!" We all nod in agreement still trying to process the news she just gave us. Sophomore year just wouldn't be the same without our wild and crazy friend. Sure it's only two states away but it feels like eternity. In a trance, I walk out of the cafeteria to head to sixth period. Not paying attention I ran into someone. "Oh, excuse me!" I say. I look up at the most gorgeous boy I have ever seen. Our eyes lock for a second until he puts his head down and says "No problem" and skitters away. Well, that was weird. I know I'm no runway model but he couldn't wait to get away from me I thought to myself. I had never seen him before but it's a big school. Brushing the encounter off, I continue with one of my last days as a freshman at Evermore High.
