Savannah Grace - The Kiss

1216 Words
Saturday mornings are usually spent sleeping in. I love being able to relax and wake up slowly without having to rush around first thing. I love laying in bed and letting the sun coax me awake. This Saturday how ever, I shot up right out of bed at 7am. Today was the day! Granted it was still six hours away but who's counting. Jackson and Brayden are coming over later. I can't believe he will be here. In my house. With me. I still feel like it's all a dream. I jump out of bed, get in the shower and throw some clothes on. When I get downstairs, my dad is awake and looks up at me, "You're up awfully early" he says. "Yeah, I couldn't sleep" "What's wrong? Anything you want to talk about?" He says as he switches his focus from the newspaper over to me, slight concern on his face. "No, just a lot on my mind. You know, school stuff". That wasn't a total lie. Brayden DOES go to my school so technically he could fall under the 'school stuff' category. "I thought you said your classes weren't too bad this year?" "They're not, still a lot of homework and, you know, friends, that kind of I can tell that he's not totally buying what I was saying but he lets it go nonetheless. "Ok, well I made a fresh pot of coffee if you want some." "Thanks dad" I say as I pull a mug and a bowl out of the cabinet. I pour myself a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal and sit down at the table. Maybe I should text Brayden just to be sure we're still on for this afternoon. I'm still not completely convinced this isn't a set up or a bad joke. I pull out my phone, flip it open and find Brayden's number. "Good morning, I was just checking to be sure we were still on for this afternoon." "Definitely! Looking foward to it", he replies quickly "Great! See you then", I type out my address for him and close my phone. I get to work tidying up, I wonder what those boys like for lunch. I should have asked. I open the refridgerator and stare at it's contents. My dad is still sitting at the bar and asks, "Didn't you just finish breakfast? Still hungry" "Yeah, I'm just seeing what we have for lunch in here" "Lunch? Isn't it a bit early to start thinking about that?" "Yeah, Brayden and Jackson are coming over for lunch and I just wasn't sure what all we had." "That's right, I forgot about that. How about I run down to the little sandwich place you and your mom love so much and pick up a little bit of everything." "Thank you dad, that would be great!" I say, a little too excitedly as I lean up to give him a kiss on the cheek. "No problem, I'll make sure everything is here by 1" I smile to myself, I really do have a great family. Before I know it, it's 12:30. I'm just finishing my chores when the doorbell rings. That can't be them already, can it? They are 15 minutes early. I go to the door and opening it, I see the boys standing outside my door. "I can't believe he's actually here" I think to myself. I step aside to let them pass. "Hey!" Brayden says as he sits down at the kitchen table, "Wow, this all looks amazing" he gestures towards the spread my dad had set out for us. It really did look great, my dad really outdid himself this time. There were small sandwiches, chips with various dips, a fruit tray, and a selection of cookies. He got enough food to fill an army! "I hope you guys are hungry!" I say as we all sit down and grab a plate. Lunch was great but the conversation was even better. After lunch, we move into the living room and I pop in a movie mainly just for background noise. The three of us have been talking non stop since they got here. It feels natural, like we've known each other for years. Before I know it, Brayden looks down at his phone. "Wow, I didn't realize how late it is! It's almost 4! My mom should be here in about 15 minutes or so to pick us up. It was so good getting to hang out with you Savannah Grace" he says. "I agree, I'm so glad you both were able to come over" I look between him and Jackson. "I'll go wait out front for your mom" Jackson states, giving us a little time alone to say our goodbyes. My parents and brothers mainly stayed up stairs the entire time giving us our privacy. My brothers spend most of their time in the bonus room playing video games on Saturdays anyway so it wasn't much change from their usual routine. I imagine my mom's up there sewing and my dad is probably sitting in front of the computer trying to solve some work issue. Jackson walks out the door and Brayden turns to me, "Hey, um, would you like, maybe want to go out sometime? Like, only if you want to?" I smile, "I would love that". He lets out his breath that I didnt even realize he was holding in and the biggest grin spreads across his face. This is really happening. "Thanks for coming over!" I say. "It was my pleasure, it was really nice getting to know you", then he surprises me, he leans down and giving me a kiss on the lips. I wasn't expecting that! It wasn't my first kiss but man could I feel the electricity! I've never had a kiss like that before. After we step back, I can still feel the tingling on my lips where his had been. "I'll see you on Monday". I can't move. "Bye" is all that I can get out as I wave to him while he walks out the door and into his mom's car. I can't move from this spot for a good few minutes, even after they drive off. I'm still thinking about that kiss as I walk upstairs. My mom comes out of her sewing studio and asks me "How did everything go?" "Great" I say still in a daze. Thankfully my mom was too engrossed in her latest project to see the look in my eyes, I feel like it was written all over my face. That night as I crawl in bed, I'm still thinking about that amazing kiss. Man is that guy hot, he gives me butterflies like I've never felt before. My phone dings. "Goodnight beautiful" he texts me "I can't wait for Monday". "Goodnight" I reply "Thanks again for coming over, I really enjoyed it". I hope he knew I was hinting more towards the kiss than anything else but even if he didn't, at least I know this is real life. I drift off to sleep and have beautiful dreams about the most gorgeous boy I have ever laid eyes on. I feel like I'm living someone else's life and am loving every minute of it.
