I'm just as excited to hang out with Brayden as I was the first time only a little less nervous this time. Since the time he came to my house, we've been texting and talking in class so I feel like I know him a little better. I don't think the butterflies will ever go away though.
As I'm in my room deciding what to wear, my mom pops her head in, "What time do you want to leave?" She asks me.
"Brayden said to be there around 6 so maybe 5:30ish?" Brayden and I lived a little ways apart, not 30 minutes but I always like to be a little early.
"Sure, just come find me when you're ready. And you said his mom is bringing you home tonight, right?"
"Yes"
"Ok, it sure is nice for his family to have you over for dinner." I just nod as I turn back to my closet and return to the task of picking out an outfit. I finally decide on a pair of leggings and a long tunic. Not too dressy but more so than school. I go to my dresser and pick out a pair of earrings and a necklace to go with it then get started on my makeup. I don't generally wear a lot of makeup and this day is no different. Just a little eyeshadow, mascara, and eye liner. At the last minute, I grab some light pink lip gloss and apply it to my lips. It's still cold outside so I grab my jacket and head to find mom.
We arrive at Brayden's house a little before 6. I jump out of the car and thank my mom for the ride.
"You're welcome, sweetie. Have a good night, we will see you when you get home".
"Ok" I reply as I shut the car door and head for the house.
"Hello!" Greets Brayden's mom when she comes to answer the door, "I've heard a lot about you from Brayden. My name is Belinda, it's so nice to finally meet you!"
"Nice to meet you too, I'm Savannah Grace" I say, even though I'm pretty sure she already knows my name.
"Come on in, Brayden is in the living room", I follow her through the kitchen and into the living room where Brayden is sitting on the couch talking to someone who I just assumed was his dad.
"Hey Savannah Grace!" Was it just me or did his eyes light up when he saw me? "Meet my dad and my mom. Mom, dad, this is Savannah Grace".
"I met your mom at the door, it's very nice to meet you both".
"Come sit down" Brayden's dad says as he gets up from the couch to give me room to sit next to Brayden. I sit down and his parents leave us alone saying they have to finish up dinner.
"How are you?" he asks
"Doing good, thanks for having me over"
"No problem, I hope you found the house ok"
"I did, thanks".
We chat for a little while longer until Brayden's mom comes in and tells us that dinner is ready. We get up and head into the kitchen. His mom has dinner laid out on the table for us. Brayden warned me that his mom isn't really into cooking and some of the stuff may be frozen or from Boston Market. Everything looked great regardless of where it came from. There was a nice big rotisserie chicken in the center of the table with various vegetables in bowls near it, mashed potatoes, and bread. I really hope they didn't go to all this trouble just for me.
"Everything looks great mom" he says as we sit down.
"Thank you, you know I'm not much of a cook but I still like to feed my family when I'm home".
"Yeah, Brayden tells me that you are out of town for work a lot. What do you do?"
"I work in property management for one of the biggest companies in the East. I travel all around visiting all my properties and meeting with the people at each of them to make sure everything runs smoothly. Of course if it's not, I'm the first one they call. But enough about me, what about you? Brayden says you've been at most of his basketball games this year."
"Yeah, I try to go when I can. I've never really been into sports all that much but I'm starting to learn more about basketball with every game I go to."
She laughs at that, "I doubt I'd know anything about any sports if he hadn't gotten into basketball! I do enjoy watching him play when I can." I had seen her at a few games, we never officially met but I knew who she was through Brayden.
His dad was awfully quiet the whole meal. It looked like he was just enjoying his food and couldn't care less what we were talking about. I guess that's maybe just how he was. Talking about basketball, I looked over and smiled at his dad. He cleared his throat and said "Belinda, thank you for a great meal. I'll help you do the dishes".
They get up and Brayden asks me if I wanted to go upstairs and hang out while they finish down here.
"Sure" I said. We get upstairs, sit down on the edge of his bed and start talking. He leans over and kisses me and before I knew it, we were making out on his bed. I loved kissing him although after a while, my lips started turning red and hurting. 'I'll have to teach him to be a better kisser' I thought. One day but right now I was just enjoying being with him. After what seemed like only a few minutes, we finally broke apart. I looked at the clock, we had been making out for almost an hour! It was almost time for me to go home. I smiled at Brayden who had a big grin on his face as well.
"We should probably head downstairs, your parents are probably wondering what's going on up here" I say with a giggle.
I head downstairs and try to hide my face with my hair. There's no doubt in my mind that my lips are bright red. They'll know what we've been up to in a second. I'm embarrassed, this is only the first time I've ever met them. I wonder if he brings a lot of girls home to dinner with his parents. How many girls has he kissed up in that room? Maybe one day I'll get up the courage to ask him. But for now, I'm still on the Brayden make out high so I decide to enjoy that as long as I can.
Just before we walk outside to follow Belinda to the car, Brayden grabs my arm and spins me around, "I have a question for you" he says as he looks down at the ground. Why is he all of a sudden nervous? We just had a pretty steamy makeout session upstairs.
"Ok" I respond and await his question.
He finally looks up after what seemed like forever. "How would you feel about being my girlfriend?"
It takes every fiber in my being not to jump up, squeal, and wrap him up in my arms. I smile, which I'm pretty sure is the biggest, goofiest smile ever. "I would like that" I say. He takes my hand as we walk together out to his mom's car.
