Brayden

630 Words
Freshman year is finally here! As the oldest of 3, I get to start this journey first and make a way for my younger brother and sister. I get to Evermore High School and take it all in as I step inside. The first person I see is my best friend Jackson at his locker. "Hey man! Ready for Freshan year?" I say as I clap him on the back "Hey Brayden! How was your summer?" "Not too bad, same old stuff, worked on my basketball skills. Getting ready for tryouts. Hopefully I can at least make the JV team this year. How about you, sorry I didn't keep in touch, the summer kind of got away from me. "It was good, just helped my dad around at the shop some, nothing too spectacular" I didn't hear a word he said, something had caught my eye. Or shouldn I say some one caught my eye. I had never seen anything like her before "Wow!" I said, Jackson turning his head to see what I was staring at. "Who is that?" I stare at her as she walks by me. She doesn't even notice me. I have never seen anyone so beautiful. In her dark jeans and green tank top and her brown hair flowing over her shoulders. She looks just like Sandra Bullock. I would never have the nerve to go up and talk to someone like her. 'Oh well' I thought to myself 'better I focus on basketball this year, I don't need any distractions'. "What is it?" Jackson asked as soon as he realized I was no longer a participant of our current conversation. "Nothing, nevermind. But did you see that girl? She looks just like Sandra Bullock!" "No, I must have missed her. See ya!" He says as he heads off to find his homeroom class. I shake my head, I've got to get her out of my head, 'focus Brayden!' I head off in the opposite direction to find my homeroom class just as the first bell rings. By 4th period, I still can't get her out of my head. Those big brown eyes, olive complexion, and long brown hair haunt me as the bell rings. Time to meet Jackson for lunch. I walk into the cafeteria and scan the room for Jackson but my eyes stop on the table at the far right. There she is. Sitting with a bunch of girls, I spot her again. Still as gorgeous as she was earlier that morning as she walked past me. I sigh and walk further into the cafeteria in search of Jackson. "Hey! Over here!" I spot him a little further in, he had just gotten his lunch and sat down. "How has the first part of your day been?" "Fine" I reply. I can't tell him that I fantasied all morning about a girl I hadn't even met yet. How I wished I had the nerve to go up and talk to her. No, I can't tell him that, that's my secret for now. I take my baseball cap off, rub my head and put it back on, time to get back to reality. Thankfully Jackson can't see my frustration, he's happily scarfing down his lunch and not even paying any attention to me. I take a seat and open my lunch bag, not really hungry for what's inside. As the last and final bell rings, I make my way to the bus exit hoping to catch a glimpse of Sandra before heading home. I search the crowd to no avail, she must be in the carpool crowd, there's no way I will see her with all those people. Maybe shooting some hoops with my little brother this afternoon will clear my head some.
