Chapter Seven – The Strike For weeks, Emily suffered from recurring nightmares where she dreamt she was falling over precipices. “The baby is dead, I’m glad,” she admitted to Albert. “I didn’t want it, I’m thankful it’s over.” “Don’t talk like that.” He knew she meant it, and even though he hated her for it, he tried to give her a hug to console her. “Stay away from me,” she warned. “I know where that leads and you’re not putting any more babies in me.” Albert left her.
