Chapter 16All three of us sat at the dining room table. Dante sat across from me, Zachariah on the end, hands clasped in front of him, watching Dante and me. I held out my hands to Dante. “Hold my hands.” He stared at them. I had removed my gloves. His gaze lifted to mine. “You sure about this?” Dante asked. “Yeah. We need to know what's going on. You saw or heard something while hiding in that office as a mouse. If we don't do this, everything you did, and whatever you're going through now, will have been a waste.” His sudden cough jarred him. The cough was getting brassy. I thought he needed a doctor, not a medicine man, but I'm not an Indian. “You'll only get what my pea brain got,” he reminded. “Whatever. At least I'll have it. Maybe this is the only way to find out what you saw
