Chapter 21Once outside, somewhere in the middle of the vast parking lot, I slumped next to a car. It had rained. My two companions pulled up, turned, and retraced their steps back to me. With my heart pumping hard, I wondered if they weren't eyeing my jugular because of the throbbing pulse. When I caught their gaze, they turned away. Acting as if they were trying to remember where they parked their car. “Bloody hell! Where'd I park me bloomin' car!” Heath snarled. Cars on the distant street shushed by. It was cold and windy. I buttoned up my jacket. “Shouldn't you have gone after the girl?” I asked Heath. “Yeah, and have the bloody bobbies after me?
