Delphine Cove

Eagan It had been just shy of a week since I had woken up to an empty bed. Celeste had escaped my love, and disappeared into the depths of The Moon Gorge. I was pissed, and my wolf was distraught knowing our mate had practically rejected us. Later that day I had found out Jonas had found her running through the grounds, and assisted Celeste in her quick get away. Why would she do this to us? I had tasked my best wolves looking for her at the two places I thought she’d be. I needed to know why she didn’t want to stick around. We first went to Faerendale, as that’s where Jonas had dropped her off. I asked the Fae if they had seen Celeste. They did, but said she had left with a Fae girl with purple hair named Alice. We quickly traveled through The Enchanted Forest, and found the hostel I believed she mentioned living it. There we found the keeper, a young Witch who pretended to not know who Celeste was. “I’m sorry your highness, I have no record of a Celeste staying here,” She said to me as she bowed. I could sense that this fiery minx wasn’t being truthful, and my wolf was irate. I couldn’t afford to lose it on a commoner. Our coronation was nearing, and I soon would be one of the Kings. Back at the Castle, I was pacing around my room. My wolf was in the back of my mind, clawing to get out and track her down. I knew I couldn’t allow that. Celeste had to have been freaked out already, and a desperate wolf would only scare her further. Brothers, come to me. I demanded over mind link. In moments Axel entered my room. “What’s up brother?” He asked, his tone careful and on edge. Jonas joined us, ducking his head as he noticed my sheer rage. “Eagan, I don’t know how many times I have to apologize. I didn’t know that girl was your mate! You could’ve told us!” He raised his hands exasperatedly. A growl escaped from my lips. I hadn’t had the time to tell them, I wanted to keep the news of our mate all to myself as long as possible. Usually when mates are discovered they go on days long benders, making love and sealing their bond with a mark to the she-wolf/female mate. I hadn’t expected her to run off! “Yeah Eagan, you guys can’t keep this up. We will find her!” Axel pleaded. Usually, we didn’t have much discourse between the three of us. We were linked in many ways despite our different personalities. Three wolves born of the same egg were physiologically bonded for life. I sighed, sitting down on the edge of my bed. My hands cradled my head in my lap. “I just wanted to find my Luna before the coronation. And I did! But who knows where she went.” My wolf howled out in pain. There was no solace until I found her and either broke the mate bond.. or sealed the deal. … Celeste Alice and I had made a quick getaway, and settled in the merpeople district a few towns over from Faerendale. Delphine Cove was a beautiful place where mermaids and mermen inhabited, a shell shaped lake with an island in the middle. Merpeople lived in a city at the bottom of the deep water, but hosted guests of other species at the island. With the help of witches, many mermaids were able to turn into human form and walk on land at their whim. Their female human forms were incredibly enchanting, gorgeous beyond any degree. We met up with Isla, a mermaid I had met while she was exploring the gorge. She had stayed with me at a hostel and became a close friend. She was in her human form, sat across from us at a high top table in a tiki bar. “Oh my gosh, it’s been quite awhile Celeste. I can’t believe you’re finally 18!” She gushed. Isla’s voice was music to anyone’s ears as most mermaids possessed angelic voices. Around us, there were echos of mermaids signing sweet sounds. This place seemed almost tropical, despite it being early autumn. Of course Isla was excited to see us, but I wasn’t about to share any information regarding last weeks events. I wanted to keep my personal affairs with Eagan quite, just incase. Islas long dark wavy hair was whipping in the hot breeze, reminding me of Eagan and Jonas’ dark locks. “Oh you know, we were just passing through and figured we would stop by for some drinks and maybe some stories!” I lied, hoping she didn’t catch on. I listened absentmindedly as Isla told us stories of her recent adventures in Delphine Cove. Alice was caught in a trance, her eyes fixed on Isla. She seemed to be so engrossed and hung on to every word Isla was saying. Alice was crushing HARD. I excused myself for a bathroom run, and slipped away to the ladies room. Hopefully giving them some time to chat one-on-one. Once in the bathroom I locked the door and stood in front of the sink, staring at my reflection. It was the first time I had a moment to myself to really reiemnice of Eagan. My thoughts ran wild, flashes of passion heating me up. I turned the sink on and splashed cool water across my reddened face. You’re a women now. My inner voice reminded me, but I pushed the images back down and headed out to the girls. What the.. There, right next to Isla and Alice at the table, stood a tall, tan, dark man. Eagan. No.. his hair was messier and shorter. Jonas? His eyes flashed green at me, locking onto my being. Isla and Alice both looked up following the Man’s eyes. “Oh there she is!” Isla confirmed loudly with a clueless smile. Alice had a different emotion, anxiety enveloped her. I walked on through the tables, and stood right in front of this man. He smelled quite different than Eagan or Jonas. Axel. … Axel There she stood, the girl who matched exactly the description that Eagan had given us. Her curly blonde ringlets surrounding her head shimmered in the lights. Celeste was a beauty, Eagan hadn’t been lying. But something hit me when I caught whiff of her tantalizingly scent. Honey, roses, arousal. “Hello Celeste,” I said calmly, reaching my hand out for hers. She was nearly a foot shorter than I. Celeste peered out from beneath her lashes at me. She was unreadable. Expression flat. Her small hand took mine and instead of shaking it, she pulled me close. Her voice was soft, “How did you find me?” She whispered, sending my wolf mad. She smells delicious. He noted. Celeste’s touch sent shivers down my spine. Why in the hell would that happen? I pushed back to keep a distance, but smiled sweetly to show that I meant no harm. “What’s a wolf doing in Delphine Cove, you ask?” I couldn’t tell her the truth. After listening to my Eldest brother gripe and moan about his mate’s disappearance.. I decided to go looking for her myself. I just so happened to stop in Delphine Cove for a drink when I spotted Alice the purple fae. It was as if fate was bringing me to Celeste. She nodded indifferently. The two girls at the table were watching our exchange carefully, Alice’s eyes were wide. “Well, I was just stopping in to hear some beautiful mermaid tunes and grab a drink before I headed back to the castle. What a funny coincidence it is that I found you here!” Celeste’s demeanor changed. Her eyes were looking me up and down. Mate. My wolf muttered. Mate. I knew she was Eagan’s mate. Why would my wolf reiterate that? He was practically doing summersaults, whimpering, begging to come out. I usually had better control. “Well that’s sweet. I’m just passing by and meeting with some friends. It was nice seeing you, your highness” Celeste purred. She spoke as if she knew me. Did she not realize I wasn’t Eagan? Eagan had told me all about their hot encounter. Every detail fluttered through my brain. A jealous wave passed over me, as if I wanted to have been her first time. Our Mate.
