Eagan
There was something strange about this human walking through The Enchanted Forest. Something was drawing me to her, despite the fact that I never cared prior when other creatures passed through.
I had been running about, howling at my brothers, enjoying a nice morning run. And all of a sudden I felt this pull towards this little human trudging through. She smelled heavenly for a human, and my wolf was begging me to meet her.
This pale small girl was staring at me wide-eyed after I told her my name. Eagan was not a common name. She had to know who I was.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know who you are. I don’t follow the media much, I live in that hostel just through the other side of this forest.” Her sweet voice said shakily.
She was far too young to be living in a hostel, maybe 18? This human was beautiful though. Her golden locks had entranced me when she took her hood off and caught me off guard.
I thought of a reason to continue this interaction, as my inner wolf was begging to know more about her. “Well, I am the soon to be Alpha King.” I said bluntly. “And you seem to be lost young one. Are you new to The Gorge?”
She giggled at me, sending my wolf over the moon. He was howling on the inside.
Kiss her. He demanded, but was met with my stern refusal.
“I’m not lost, I’ve traveled this forest many times to Faerendale. One of my best friends is a Fae who lives there.” She put one hand over her amulet. I could sense fear in her voice.
Keep talking to her.
I walked closer to her, standing right in front of her again. She didn’t seem to mind that I was completely nude. She also didn’t seem to notice my member getting a little harder as the moments passed.
Was she my mate? I didn’t have one yet, and I was already on the verge of turning 21. Which meant my fated mate was either younger than me.. or not a wolf. Light bulbs flashed in my head, as I had never thought of the possibility that my fated mate would not be a wolf. Being an Alpha that rarely happened.
“I’m sorry if I scared you, I just caught site of that necklace and couldn’t help but get a closer look,” I lied. She wouldn’t understand if I told her it was her scent driving my wolf wild.
With that sentence she seemed to relax, her body language less stiff. “Oh, no worries. It was a birthday gift from a friend.” She smiled a real smile for the first time since she noticed me. “Celeste.” The girl said bowing her head at me as if she just realized I was her soon-to-be king.
Celeste. What a beautiful name.
Don’t bother waiting up for me. I mind linked to my brothers, letting them know to not come back and interrupt our interaction.
I nodded, signaling that it was okay for her to keep taking. “I really do need to keep going, I don’t have much time left to get to my friend.” Her singsong voice sent chills down my spine.
“Mind if I keep you company? I’ll shift and walk with you to Faerendale” I surely didn’t want this to be the last moment I saw her. I also didn’t want to scare Celeste before I could figure out why my wolf liked her so much.
She nodded and I swiftly shifted into my wolf. Her eyes glistened with wonder at my large form.
Our Mate. My wolf confirmed.
Celeste
I couldn’t quite understand why this Alpha wolf wanted to walk the rest of the path with me, but I also felt a bit safer knowing that he would not hurt me. The soon-to-be king would never hurt a human for no reason.
I had lied to him, I recognized him as soon as he said his name. He was royalty, and I had acted like he bothered me. That was a punishable offense in many eyes.
We continued on, my small feet traveling the beaten path that went in the direction of Faerendale. Eagan’s wolf trotted just behind me. I could tell he was moving slower than usual, and felt a little embarrassed that he was burdening himself like this.
We came to the cross road of the path that branched towards the Castle. I stopped in my tracks, turning to face Eagan. I knew he couldn’t actually talk to me, but I felt confident I could communicate with him anyways. “You can let me go on, this is the path that splits off towards the Castle.” I motioned towards the north trail.
Eagan let out a whimper sound. He shook his head, no. “Really I’m okay! I’ve traveled this way countless times. Nobody ever bothers me!”
For some reason I just felt too comfortable near this wolf. Like I wanted to be closer, which makes no sense. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the furry creatures. Most of the bullies back at the orphanage were werewolves. Hot headed boy-wolves who were angry at the world.
Eagan turned towards the other path and continued a bit ahead of me, then stopped looking back as to say “I’m going with you”.
Sigh. “Whatever, but I’m sure you have more important things to do, your highness.” My sassy tone was not overlooked, as he growled a low growl in response. I rolled my eyes and kept walking on the path.
I had forgot how far of a hike it was to Alice’s place. Most people would drive around the forest on the paved roads, but I didn’t have a car. I didn’t even have a cell phone. Not that they worked in The Enchanted Forest.
Eagan must’ve noticed my pace slowing, and he nuzzled my leg. “What? I’m sorry, I’m just getting a little tired. It’s been a bit since I’ve walked this far.” His eyes were boring holes into me. Did he just sniff me? He was close to me now, and I could feel his heat radiating across my body.
As if on cue, a loud thunder clapped nearby. Rain began to trickle through the canopy of trees. I squealed a little, throwing my hood back on. Eagan walked a few paces ahead of me and crouched down, his eyes watching me eagerly. He motioned his head back.
“I am NOT riding you.” My feet stopped just in front of him. My arms crossed my body as the rain intensified.
Eagan growled at me.
There was no way in hell I was going to RIDE a wolf, let alone a royal wolf. “No.” I said walking around the crouched furball. Not over my dead body.
In a split second I was atop the wolf, he had ran underneath me, scooping me up. I shrieked, realizing I was flying through the woods at wolf speed. The forest zipped around me and I wrapped my arms around the wolf’s neck to stabilize myself.
I instantly felt a warmth at my core as my body rubbed against Eagan’s wolf. What the hell.
It felt like just minutes passed, running through the rain, when we edged the forest and I could see the lit up buildings of Faerendale. Eagan slowed his speed, coming to a slow trot. I used this as a chance to escape my uncomfortable ride.
I made some distance, running forward to the front gates. Behind me I heard a woosh, and then a flash of black. “You couldn’t wait for that to be over huh?” His sultry voice teased.
I snapped my eyes back to him, his gorgeous form approaching me again. “How dare you force me to RIDE you?” I vocalized my obvious discontent. “I am not the biggest wolf fan.”
Eagan’s green eyes went black for a second, then transformed back to the bright orbs. He was obviously mind-linking, I knew that much from my formative years.
“I’m sorry, I just didn’t want you to suffer through the woods while it was pouring.”
My eyes couldn’t help but wander downwards, noticing that he was slightly erect. My cheeks blushed deeply, betraying my annoyance. This man had some kind of weird voodoo over me. His physique was something of dreams. Most wolves were fit and handsome, but Eagan was godlike.
The rain had slowed to almost nothing, and we were just outside the big metal gates that encompassed the Fae land.
Did he want me? I knew wolves to be passionate creatures, but there was no way a royal would be interested in a lowly commoner human.
“Are all wolves this shameless? No care to who could be around while completely exposed?” I gestures towards him, hoping to hide my curiosity of his body with questions.
He chuckled at me. “Of course they are, we shift and can’t just keep our clothes. Are you really that unknowledgeable of us?” He was closing in on me. I looked around, not seeing a creature in site. Something was dangerous yet captivating about him, and I couldn’t deny that he was making me feel something I hadn’t felt before.
I feigned disgust. “Of course not, that was rhetoric, King Eagan.”
His eyes changed, was that lust I detected?
“I’m not a king. Not yet, soon love.” He shrugged and stopped getting closer. Eagan was still less than a foot away now, and I realized I had backed myself against the metal fence.
I barely knew him, but something in me was pushing me to close the gap between us. I wanted to know if his lips felt as strong as his voice sounded. My eyes locked on to his large lips.
As if he could hear my thoughts, Eagan crashed his lips into mine.
