When I got to the table, Mason and Shawn were sitting there awkwardly; both of them playing with their silverware to keep busy.
I leaned over and whispered in Mason's ear. "We need to go now, please."
Mason nodded and stood up. "It was nice meeting you, Shawn. Take care."
Shawn snapped his head up and looked from Mason to me. He glared at me when he spoke. "You're leaving?" His tone was furious.
"Yes, Shawn. Goodbye," I emphasized my words, hoping he would get the hint.
I looped my arm through Mason's and we flagged down our server.
